View Full Version : "Rock Island Red" (aka chickens)

Here is one I just finished...its from a composite of photos that I took last summer at my husband's aunt's house. They have cows, chickens, geese, dogs....and lots more animals. This rooster was especially curious of my and camera and me! And he seemed to pose everytime I got close!
Its 13x20 on arches #140 paper.

Carly I really like this. The colors are great. I have some photos of chickens and just might start one.

Life is too short to be stuck in a box! Open the top and hop out!

Hey Carly,
Rock Island or Rhode Island Red. I must tell you a joke about roosters sometime.

Jane, I agreed with you before I even posted this one...I did add some dark strokes into his feathers a bit and added more lines in the building behind him. I was just too lazy to go back and take another pic and upload it again! lol

He is actually a Partridge Plymouth Rock...but that sounded rather dull! http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif

Carly - super composition! To me, this looks not quite finished. I'd take it just a layer or two farther delineating the feathers just a tad, and a little bit of structure in the shedlike building maybe just separating the eeves from the sides. I sure like the early morning feel though. Can almost hear the cock a doodle doo... hehe. http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif
