Did this for the daily sketch this afternoon. I think it is a good subject for a larger painting. It is 5x7. Comments please.

This painting portrays a real feeling of sunny contentment and the feelings that the dog and little girl have for eachother. This would look great as a larger painting

Thanks everyone for the feed back. I just couldn't resist these two on the couch, but by time I was through poor Elizabeth had had just about enough of Nicks doggie breath http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Yes, it would make a good painting. I actually looked at a few times before commenting. There was something that was bothering me. Then you said "but by time I was through poor Elizabeth had had just about enough of Nicks doggie breath". That's it! The expression on her face is not spontaneous. Maybe try lurking around the corner with your camera. Mary

Yes it would make a great painting.
One thing I would do is tone down the arm of the couch at the top, tends to distract from the couple,
Rod.

I really like your figures. The girls expression is nice even knowing your explanation of the time.

Nice sketch Leaflin, looks more like a finished painting to me. I'm not immediatly drawn to figurative work but I enjoy your composition and the expressions of the two quite alot. Is that a collie? I take my border collie/ shepard with me painting I just cant keep him out of the creeks and rivers I set my easel next too. oh well

Lovely painting Leaflin - I do agree, though, that the patch of sunlight on the back of the couch is distracting - maybe toning it down a bit would throw it into the background more?

Best wishes, Lynda
