Debee, I have 2 more chefs started. I had traded Pearl very early on for the chop chop. I just forgot to put traded on it. I am very sorry to cause confusion.

My end box is full, and I did get a couple of emails but they are blank.

If anyone sent me an email since I posted the chefs pics, I have cleaned out my inbox and it can accept pm's now. Please resend it and let me know if you are interested in trading.

Kathleen please resend the email, it is blank when I open it. Debee the same with you.

Thank you,

Pilan

hey all, I just went back to my endbox and it is weird now, I was able to open emails and see the message. anyway, it could be my computer because when I type the keys type and does not show a letter. I uploaded the xp updates and my pc has been acting really strange.

Anyway, I am going to the studio to teach today, the regular instructor is sick and she called me last minute, so this will give me a chance to finish my chefs, I hope. Maybe not..... :envy:

anyhow, talk to ya'll later. I will go answer emails now.

Her emotions have seen every scale. From the mountain to the dark valley. Now, guilt and shame cloud her at Pilans, comforting words, for a promise of a chef for sure! Oh, what a evil web we weave in our minds when envy takes control. Pilan has paid for Black Pearls insults. Debee' will vow to no longer hold Black Pearl accountable for her swift keyboarding and pm'ing. Now, to be patient and thank Pilan for her grace. A trade so underserving to one who has crossed the line of human kindness to seek revenge. I hang my head in shame and seek forgiveness from the Black Pearl.
but hey it has made for a real fun time! :D :D :D :D

Great colors Black Pearl. So glad to see you painting again!  This one is my favorite.
Thank you. (Do I detect a similarity here? Neck up of course.)
The scanned image you see however, is inaccurate. The colours are deeper and more vibrant, but I had to lighten it to portray the skintone.

I love this card very much. The beads, shells and embroidery are awesome. I am very glad I got this card. I think it has excellent composition that bring the main character as the focal point out by framing it with the tree.

Nuts, I am going to have to figure out a better way to display these little works of art. I can't tell you all how they can't be in a book that you close the cover on. It just ain't right to hide these pieces of art. I have to think. think think about it hard to figure something out.

Boy it has been so quiet in here...

Everyone must be slaving over their ATC's in a frenzy to get trading!

I have added a couple of new ones. Taking a little break from the chair series and did a Halloween one for those of us who celebrate the bestest holiday of the year. :D I actually went into the fabric store for white muslin today and came out with all kinds of neat new fabrics. *Sigh ,,, my hubby will be sssoooooo pleased with me

My plans for making more atcs this weekend are on hld. Ive burned the ever loving *bleep!* out my fingers. Typing with ne thumb and one middle finger is one thing but I dont think making atcs is possible right now. I might give it a shot tomorrow just for kicks. See if I can paint with my mouth or something maybe. :) Please pardon my typos.

Hi Meika---

Wow that was strange... I went up into your post and tried to click on your link to see your ATC gallery and ended up in my own atc gallery?????

Did you know that the link at the bottom of your post was incorrect??? :D :D Or something is cross-linked somehow...

I thought I was losing my marbles there for a moment. :)

Anyway, sorry to hear about your fingers... Hope you are on the mend soon.

Edited to say

Golly, thanks for the compliments Pilan. My head is gonna be bigger than a coconut soon.
Would you believe my husband - who much prefers being under a car or on a motorbike, suggested a possible solution for framing these bulky ATC's I keep producing...there are small chunky wood frames out there that are made for displaying dried herbs/kitcheny collages...he suggested I look into them and over paint the frames in gold or black or something...They match each other, and have glass fronts but the glass doesn't touch the centre area at all. Hope this helps. Black Pearl

Thanks 318 and Black Pearl,
I had a lot of fun making the spider. I wanted to finish working on the chair series (whew) but that Baltik fabric was just calling out to me and I couldn't concentrate. (yes I am crazy) Now the blue baltik fabric is making my fingers itch. I can't work much today because I have some photographs going up in a university gallery today and I am sposd to be there for the schindigg. The whole time I will be sitting there thinking 'what design should go on the cool blue fabric?'

Pilan, lol you crack me up!
Hubby isn't big on fabrics, go figure, but seeing how I have a trunk full of fabric already taking up our dining room area, he will not be pleased to see that I am still adding to it.... it's my stash, man......

Pilan...

I get mine at Walmart in the craft section. The ones I buy are little bags with the zip lock top. I can fit a bunch in there if I trade more than one. Waterproof--they may even survive a Florida hurricane. :D

Just a sugestion: open up you own themes for ATC's in a new ATC project to separate them a bit.

EG: ATC recepies, ATC nudes etc

I have asked Morganna and she said yes.....

I was wondering when somone was going to open up thier own. I didn't invent atc's, I just wanted to put awareness of ATC's onto WC. And I have acomplished that. I was wondering when yall were gonna start your own project. Im pretty suprised it hasn't been done yet. Yall don't need my permission either

Any how, somtimes soon Id figure we could all invite EVERYBODIE, here there every where for an open chat, I don't know when yet, cus I gotta 14 hour night ahead of me. But I really think we need to all hash out what every one wants.

I'd hate to think I wasn't fulfilling yalls needs before, Im a good listener and am not offended easily. Communication makes the world go round. :( I didn't know yall were having so much trouble. But anyhow, I think we need to brainstorm. Im a big people pleaser most of the time, and really want every one to be happy on stuff.

How about we have a painting marathon to jumpstart some who have been away too long, like myself :D !

Not all have to particpate in it. It only takes 2 people Pearl  and someone else or more. Miss Pearl we have to get the painting in before your baby comes.

well, I am up to it, anyone else wants the challenge? It would be sort of challenging don't ya'll think? it could go no more than a 24hr period. That is like 2 days.

I received my surprise ATC from Jakeally  !

Don't forget to ask one, Jakeally can't scan cards at the moment, so the process is that she sends you an owesome ATC in a very nice card, you scan it upon receiving it, only then can she upload in the gallery (so she has 100% traded entries).

I attach the scan, but it's even better IRL.

Yes. I do agree. And I do. But catnap variety. Several reasons for that...of which you'll know by experience I'm sure...
I will be pacing myself, and as per usual just working on ATC's themselves during the day time / early evening hours.

P

P, they are just ATC size, and I wasn't thinking of doing a la mode Jackson Pollock...
I had a self portrait acrylic on canvas, not been happy about for ages.
Decided to chop the thing up and re prep it...canvas board, hyplar gesso, now with raised painted edges. I like them already! Wanted to go for a preframed kind of look this time round.

There happens to be nineteen ready, cos that's how much I managed to cut up. Of course I won't get through all those, just wanted to wind you up. :)
My theme idea for at least six anyway is, "the sombrero series".
I have to do some research as never been South of the Border.
Really busy with church and reunion on sunday (two events in one day's gonna wipe me out), so was going to see if you'd mind me working on them today (my friday - you are indeed correct) and tomorrow. Just during the day/early evening, inbetween landladying, housewifing and mothering...
I find it so relaxing and the perfect excuse to park.

Oops. Now you mention it, your piece does look moonlit.

Re energy to produce works, it is self feeding. I have NEVER been a prolific painter/mixed media player, albeit these are miniature works. (But they take as long as my usual size canvas'es)

My college art teacher did not speak to my sister or I for seven years after I finished and went nursing instead of art school. She wanted my sister and I to go into the field of art fully, not for fun like we do. My sister is the prolific one usually, reminds me I must go hassle her and see why she hasn't joined us yet.

BlackPearl you seem to be having the same issue I was having. Your early ATC gallery link go's to my cards instead of yours. The way I fixed mine was to go to the browse finished works section of this project click on my own name and use that link. If you link to your own browse/edit page, it defaults to each persons own edit page when they click on the link. Hope that makes sense. :)

Fri.- clean house, pumpkin carving, visit to a haunted forest and a party

sat- gymnastics, bowling party, skate park for photo shoot, grown ups only party sat nite

sun- watch football, edit skate photos :( , watch football, trick-or-treating, watch football

Not sure that I can fit any creative time in esp. since painting is NOT my strong suite. I promise I will give it a go... much support and guidence will be required though.

This is just AWESOME. The detail and symbolism for such a perfectly named piece, just blows me away.
Did I say it is also mine? hehe.

I am running out of superlatives to describe the variety and creativity of the ATC's coming through.
If I have not traded with any of you yet, don't worry I am working on it.
Meanwhile, don't be put off by the numbers, PM me if you fancy something.
Sorry to the guys though, my stuff has been a bit girly, and I can't do cars or such for diddlysquat...that is why I give you the option of requesting a trade first.

Not sure that I can fit any creative time in esp. since painting is NOT my strong suite. I promise I will give it a go... much support and guidence will be required though.

Don't you know that football is the root of all evil ?
I have only watched maybe three tv programmes since joining ATC nuts five weeks ago.
No, sounds like you will need it for recovery time after everything els.
But glad you are willing to try the paintbrush.
Mine are so decrepit, some are 15 years old...so shows you how the rust is falling of 'em too.
I will trade you for a painting that you produce sometime this weekend, regardless of how you feel about it.
How is that? You can choose whatever of mine in return. That is the confidence I have in you.

I was really toying with getting involved with the paint project for this weekend but I'm just not too hot with paint. I've barely dabbled with oil, and acrylics and watercolors arent my strong suit either. Here's an example of one ATC I tried with watercolor this weekend and it took me bloody forever! It's really quite sad especially considering how long it took me to make it.. It looks all blotchy and stuff. :o

Sorry. I figure it is well worn in slippers on your propped up feet, but there are another couple of options that come to mind also...

By the way glad you are having a go at the paintathon. Just do whatever you can by sunday night, so you can upload the images in for us to see...

To date (PILAN are you out there  ) I have done two bit simplistic ones, one really dumb one and two that actually work. Have to wait until the paint dries to be really sure about the last two, as they always look better when it is still wet....like stones at the beach that just look dumb and boring when you dry them on the sill at home.

I say to myself, next time Hopper I am gonna catch you... yep, less than 5 minutes went by and they little devil flew smack dab into the florencent paint.... Gotcha.....

now I have a Hopper abstract  !!! he just let me wash his little feet off :p ! Then I quickly put him back in his cage.... I have to clip those feathers soon.

Hi Joel,
I am so glad it got to you safely! It is my understanding that US mail going overseas is getting to destinations quickly because of the war in Iraq. The government is getting our GI's their mail ASAP and my ATC's are benifiting from that I guess.

I am interested in producing some themed cards, although would - in all honesty, prefer to trade for seen cards. Because snow only features on our horizon when the Mr Whippy snowfreeze van is parked by the beach nearby, usual scenes of xmas don't always seem relevant for me...

When I see all this new ones...I'd like to paint ATCs (to have something to trade). But I prepared a show for Crete last weeks and go for a Gosple weekend (I'M a singer), so next week I guess I start to paint new ones..You are all great....

Oh Gudrun, you are a woman of many talents...you will have to change your avatar to a dark big gospel singer ey...
Exciting to hear you will have an opportunity to produce more works for us to drool and delight over soon...just as well you prefer wax to watercolours ey, it is a bit more waterproof...

Debbie,
The trelis is awesome and you're making great progress. What impressed me a lot is how involved the other WC members are in your progress, giving suggestions and egging you to show developments. What a nice "community"!

Yea they are all great dudes here. :D
Always good for advice. Just put WIP - work in progress and HELP in a thread and they come to your rescue!

I'll have to go back and withdraw my animals - CONSIDER THE NEW ANIMALS OFF BOUNDS AND READY FOR Deb's ATC project.

Better do a Mini HOmage project too!

No need to withdraw your animals currently in this project. Just with the next ones you do put them in the ATC animal project.

This will help sort out this large project on one subject anyway. :D

Someone open another one.... The recepie ATC's.... who's idea was that anyway? I'm waiting for the Recepie ATC project to start up........ I can't start them all!!!!

The animal project sounds great, lord knows I love to draw them! I was also hoping to see a Christmas holidays ATC project. Maybe a blind exchange? I know it seems early but the earlier, the more cards everyone can do...

Any thoughts?

Avie

Start it up yourself. Its supprisingly easy. You can cut and paste my text into your project yourself if you want. Just change the trading section to make it a blind trade.

The blind trade I am doing at the moment from MSN ATC exchange is: Everyone does 11 cards that sign up and send those cards to one of the project leaders. 2 cards stay with the 2 project leaders and the rest get sent out to the rest of the artists. People get nine cards back. So nine participants was the minimum no maximum. People also had to send $2us to cover postage. No money with the cards, no cards back till they send the money. Makes sence to me......

Hi Debbie,
I will do it if no one else will in the next week or so. I am not overly confident, I have not hosted a project before, however I think it is one worth the time and effort.

Black Pearl, If you express in the thread that snowscenes are not in your Christmas holiday preferences for the project and also to the project leader, I would think they would keep that in mind when choosing your cards. I know that you only trade for original cards and that could be considered also.

Anyhow I think I would be fun....

Avie

PS looking forward to the animal project in a big way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Black Pearl, the "well worn" title would really fit these. Looks like I need a new pair for christmas huh! I was in a drawing class once where we were to draw or own hands & feet. When I was down with my back, I hadn't drawn or painted anything for two days. All my art supplies were at my studio, but I did have some drawing paper and pencils here. So I set out to draw what I could see from my couch prision. This was the first one I did, going back to the drawing class. Besides my husband says I have ugly feet, (of course so does he) so I did them covered. lol I did 6 little drawing and loaded them as soon as I was able to sit in a chair for any length of time. Gotta run, just "lurking in" on all of you. btw my dental surgery went well except for when the overturned me in the wheel chair  and I really wasn't lolrof I don't really remember much about it, because of the sedation". My husband told me about it. :D
I'm making baked brie and going to be leaving for my art show soon. Later

Heck, someone recently used a print off their bird's claw as part of a painting...we won't say who... sufface to say, see sunday evenings posted images...

Kathleen and Vanessa.
Thank you both for your comments. I was able to get my hands on some new refrence material for the birds....finally.
It's a bit early to be doing Christmas, but I've got to start on my personal Christmas cards soon and ATC's will have to take a back seat, so I thought I'd go ahead and post some now. Guess everyone can tell where my heart is this year. :(
Truth to tell, the ink colors are just amazing on the abundant blessing cards, if I do say so myself. Two and Three are embossed with gold and the ink is just lovely with that color. Vanessa, your AB-I is not embossed but the hand coloring is a bit more realistically done and has more detail.
Thanks to everyone for looking.

I've set it up to where you need Moderator approval to join and it isnt publicly listed on MSN Groups. Hopefully thatwill help to deter any wierdos. Once a few people join I will be adding some co-moderators since I won't have a ton of time to dedicate to it. When you apply please be patient. I will check daily and approve you guys as you show up. Each child will be able to have his/her own photo album to upload their cards so that should make it easy for them to make trades. I may be preaching to the choir, but please remember to supervise the kids you guide to the site. Make sure they know not to give their address out without adult approval. Thanks. :)

Sorry, thought you had viewed them all when I snuck them into the WIP studio in ATC November. Bit embarrassed with some of them, so didn't want to advertise too loudly initially...There are still some left ya know! :)

You know, I held my breath when I was lightly brushing on the clear gesso over the oil pastel. But it went on well and didn't smear, as I was being very careful. Then, when it dried--it was all sealed like one of the acrylics that I would do. I can always purchase a can of spray instead, but I didn't have any in the house at the time.

I also use water soluble oil pastels like I did on the Cypress series, but I don't think I would seal those. They would probably run if I used the gesso. Those I leave like a colored pencil work.

Hope that helped! :)

See look....I'm so behind! Bright and warm. And Oil pastels too. Does the clear gesso work well as a sealant?

I am finally done with the paintathon. Whew! I actually felt like I was in an exam again.

In comparison to the other paintathoners, I only did five cards. I'm an all time a-thon lagger. :D I exhausted myself waiting for the paint to dry. Now I truly understand what that metaphor means.

You have such skills with the brush Kathleen it is simply amazing. My girl friend and cohort Lisa, also an artist and framer- you can see her Christ work on my website link below- is going to eventually want to snag one from you. She is a full time art docent at the school , art instructor and visual arts leader at our church. But, Tuesday morning art at church all get to see my little works as ATC and all the cards I receive from you Nuts here. I think they are getting inspired. Thanks for the other cards, they are interesting too look at and see.

I have to try using this medium for sealing. I love these colors and especially the oranges. Years ago one of my favorite paintings of Monet were the oranges. It still is. I as a lot of beginner paint a few from the famous people they admire to learn. I difinately not the exception and painted the oranges. Since then, I have been very partial to oranges and the colors they have.

Great job !..

Don't despair here is the one I did of Monet only added more length and flowing action too the leaves. You may recognize this piece. It was such layering and using linseed oil to get a glow , you can't tell it in person but it was a good experience to do them. This was like 5 yrs ago, I think  time moves on when your having fun.

blind swap, I did not know you swap blindly here on wetcanvas. So will we ever find out who gets your card?

This is my first experience on wet canvas to ever trade, whats a blind swap? What if you get a card you don't like or is less than quality or a print you didn't want? I don't understand this blind swap thingy.

Ooops the blind swap is on MSN ATC exchange. someone asked me to keep them posted on how it is going. Can't remember for the life of me who it was so I am posting here about it. It had a Christmas theme.

So the blind swap wasn't on this site. Sorry for the confusion.

We could do a "surprise swap" here tho. Someone could open a new atc project with a theme. Everyone posts up say 11 cards each by a certain date. Then we all send the project leader our cards and a postal coupon & self addressed envelope. The project leader then could sort the cards out and send 10 cards back. The 11th card goes to the project leader. It wouldn't be a "blind swap", for people will post in the gallery their cards so you know what is expected back. the surprise would be which ones you get back. there would have to be a minimum of 11 people tho in the project for this to work.

This series is just BEAUTIFUL  Kathleen.
YOu must sneak a peak at new ATC'er lisavollrath's work, it is tucked away in the ATC November gallery...she also does beautiful collage work incorporating rubber stamping etc. elements.
It is such an elegant look.

BTW thanks for your comments on my efforts (sombrero series) from the paintathon we did last weekend.
My husband also likened 'the bolshy barmaid' to Brunhilde at the OctoberFest ..german beer wasn't my intention, rather mexican taverna, but ah well.

I personally like the 'nearly home now' one also for it's suggestion of story, but it took me so darned long to do...my husband was the model for the father's face in the background...it is meant to be an intimate glimpse of a family heading back to their village, as night falls...after a long hard day ...no donkey as can't do animals for peanuts...

The 'beckon' one and a few of the others are my attempt to overcome my fear of painting fingers /hands...which I have always managed to avoid.
Why does something that you see everyday end up resembling a siamese sausage dog when you try and paint it I wonder ???

I'm still workingon paint-a-thon atcs but I don't even have ten yet. I'm doing them while watching football. It takes me forver just to decide what to paint. Add in the drying time and it's really slow. I'm doing watercolor and it takes tons of layers since they arent the really expensive good ones. Still I'm really enjoying it. I think watercolor might be my new favorite ting. At least for a little while. :wink2: Guess what I plan to buy next time I take a trip for supplies?
I'll upload the few that I have finished sometime this evening.
