Thanks for the comments Morgie. Now that I finally have some pictures in my portfolio, I feel truly like a member. :p

Ok everyone, I have some burning questions that are driving me crazy. First, how do I get totally straight and even sides for my cards? I don't have one of those proper cutter things, so I have to use a razor blade to cut out my card. And I have used scissors and even the suggested nail-clipper to try and trim my cards, but they don't work! :crying: If you take a look at some of the pictures, particularly the one with the nails, you'll see that the sides are all crooked, and I don't want to send them out looking like that!!!

Secondly, how do I make the envelopes for the cards? What material am I supposed to use? If it's just paper, how thick does it have to be? That's it for now, unless I forgot something. :D Thanks!

I have a "self healing" cutting mat and a steel ruler to do my cutting of cards. The cutting mat has lines on it at right angles to get the edges straight. Very useful tools.

Envelopes for cards..... hmmmm well I just put them in a normal envelope and wrap the letter around them then send. They have been arriving safely so far to their new owners. :D I just recieved some from Sassybird today in small plastic bags within the envelope. :D Very good idea.

Just tell me what you want via PM or email and I will put it aside for you in your own special envelope.

When you can, post up some of yours email me with first choice. ;)
Thanks Debbie .... it will be Christmas time when I hopefully get my bits and pieces working again. Have to wait for my son to visit as he made the mess in the first place  :D

If folks would upload a picture of my card to the discussion thread when they get them ... I can copy them and put them in my gallery... You are all so kind to let me join in like this.... thank you. :D

I got bad news. It won't let me stretch the project bigger anymore. I should have quit messing with it and let it be unlimited. Ah, It says when I try to edit (Sorry, cannot delete project after five days) EEEEK, Im not trying to delete it, just edit it. Why is it saying that. I suspect just a glitch, but you never can tell. :)

Morgie
Morgie ... I just made the project Unlimited for you

Hey Debbie, thanks for the info. For the cutter, I shall just have to hunt down someone who can lend me theirs for a few hours to chop all the cards I need. And this afternoon, I brought my friend shopping with me to look for some fancy shmancy paper to make tiny envelopes. He has a good eye for a guy!

Hey yall, Dick Blick has a baby cutter thats just like those big giant one's they used to have in school :D Only tiny. LOL I want one!

My cutting uses pretty simple tools, but the simpler the tool the hardest it is. I use a trading or poker card as my outline (when not useing the card itself) and somtimes even tape them to each other Then cut around as close as I can get it with the toe nail scissors. When I don't do it that way its a carfull operation. If im just using an outline of a trading card I use very big scissors. If you can line your wrist straight and cut the side in one swipe, the whole thing should be pretty uniform. Thats the problem with little scissors when you don't have nothing but lines to follow the cut; You have to make so many cuts before getting to the other side.

Yall can see why im intrigued by the little cutter :D Cutting is a pain in the butt, thats why I make so many blank cards ahead of time.

I almost forgot. Thanks Chiris for swinging that door wide open for me  (making it unlimited)

Because I got to thinking, Now that I know what I can handle, ect. and that the way we have this thing working its better to have more people than then the limited, because there will be really more people to trade with keeping people from being left out. At least thats the way I've finally got it figured. :) I was gonna do it slow, but since the thing stops you from updating after awhile and this project busted wide open I figured it would just be better to unlimit it once and for all.

:) Thanks again so much

I can't believe im done but thats it! I don't know if i'll do it again but im glad I did (Sorry if I mucked up yalls load time) Im glad I did because it lets me see how many wonderful cards are still there :) we really didn't need a slow down. I had no idea how many yall had left :p It puts it in perspective of what we got to choose from. Since im waiting to hear back from my pending trade, im tapped out. LOL I see all of these purrdy cards but feel helpless lol I just wanted to throw up in yalls face what we got left. LOL From how long this took me it looks like a plenty LOL. I've also seen a bunch a new one's as well as old that I must comment on. Yall are just awsome!

:) Anybody that wants any of the above fine cards they are a PM Away from the creators. By the way if you have postage money probs, the way Sassy and Debbie are working it is the way to go, setting the trades aside until october or setting them aside where you can do all your mailings at once is a good Idea. :)

Tootles guys

To all who traed with me, I send out my cards end of september, may be you find one or the other card during the next days, than it would be good not to send for each card a lettter (mailing abroad is expensive)
Erica thanks for your card, its here!!!! My first one!

 Hi Vegas Art Guy. I did something similar to this on a large scale a couple months back in school, that's why I love the stuff on your cards!!! It must have taken a lot of brain power to figure out how to cover all that space.

Ahem, do you mind if I pinch a couple of designs from your card? Juuuuust a couple!!! I'm doing another one of my shadow puppet cards and I'm having trouble looking for designs to stick on their body. I am extremely grateful your card appeared in time. Thanks!

Thanks, I'm happy you like it. I planned to use pages from my obsolete British Admiralty chart pad rigth after signing up for the project, but with a completely different concept that I haven't implemented yet...

I think we all stimulate one another, I tried origami because of hlee cards! (I even borrowed two books on Origami at the public library, and now I can make the fish, the snail, a flower and a flying bird but I have no card yet with the last two).

Thanks again to Morganna for initiating this project, I think I learn a lot with these small formats and it's a lot of fun. It's a bit difficult to make comments, but getting/making a request for a card is much more than getting/writing kudos ("very nice"...).

Hey yall

Sorry I've been away, got some house work done, and worked on another card. I can't wait until I have enough acumulated to post up. Im very proud of the one I've just compleated. Im not telling  All I can say at this point about this one is that what inspired me to create it was when I was checking the minutes of the weekly drawing challenge friday Tim said while giving a crit on somone's drawing "As Morgie would say "IT's all Kick A**!" And this is what inspired me  LOL I'll have to tell him about it. It took me awhile brain storming on cut outs of cheap paper that was the size of an ATC. And then putting the idea to card. :) Now I need a cigarette having finished it. LOL Its goofy, and a little quirky, but I like it :D

I think the ATC's are great because they give me a breather. I take the big projects so seriously that it bleeds the life out of me somtimes, because my passion for learning cramps the fun out of it at times. Its a big reminder of what its all about, us, and fun. When you make art and not give a rats behind about the viewer (all thought we love the viewer :D ) It speaks about us, and breaths a life on its own. It dosn't need our help after that. And it will be respected for that. In my humble opinon anyway :D I would have never made those mosiacs if not for ATC, would have never experimented if not for them. And IT would be many years if at all, before some one eles owned a piece of me, If not for ATC cards. :) Ok, sorry I got sentimental for a minute lol.

:) Just a little bit on how I feel about ATC's. Yall are doing great by the way.

Im off to look at some cards

By the way sass, how did you obtain that plastic with the little seal on it? :) thats neat. Im saving that plastic for when I mail out another card. :)

And Thank you Weckster!   I got yours at the same time as Sassy's! Also more beautyfull in person than I could have ever imagined. :) and I want to tell yall that weckster used a greeting card to protect the ATC was just as part of the show as the ATC card itself (LOL I say show because I was parading them around the room in front of Alex saying. LOOKIE, LOOKIE!!! :p ) And the greeting card had the cutest little kitten on it, I put the card along side of Al's b day cards that I have aranged on top of the tv. Even alex (who is also a cat lover) had to stop in the middle of a show, and say "I still can't get over that little thing ontop the TV" he will say with a smile on his face. Well, I agree with you guys. I have found that making the ATC's great fun and it has allowed me to experiment with different methods that I probably would never have tried. :D
I am also learning alot from people's different styles and techniques and finding types of art that I have never heard of before now!
I must admit too that I have the envelopes and all with the ATC's that have arrived, just can't bring myself to bin them and besides I do not have a book to display the ATC's in yet, so that is my excuse.

I tried to scan them in but my puter needs a restart. I gotta get Alex to fix that.

But having collected cards back in 94 (I think I was like 19 or 20 at the time) I've keept my fantasy art, and xmen cards in a standard note book (the one with the head sized rings) In these acid free plastic sheets. There is a square for each card. One brand that I have is All star gold, and it has a gold foil emblem on the side. the other: Ultra pro platnium; and that has a silver foil sticker on it. There are also plastic boxes made just for cards I always keept my duplicate cards in those. What they also have at comic stores that I don't have are little plastic sleaves. Some folks that are paranoid about vintage baseball cards put them in the sleaves before putting them in a plastic box. The other are plastic boxes made for a single card at a time. Those are in case you have a babe ruth and are in compatable for a large collection. While Tea tins and cute little boxes are nice that i've seen on the net where people keep thier ATC's, I feel that although a little ugly, a note book where they are slipped into a sleave is the cheapest, and most achival way of keeping the cards. At least from my own experiences. And a those Baseball collectors can't go wrong if they would just assume die than have a card so much as discolor :D

Anyhow my xmen and fantasy cards that are in the note book are as new as the day I took them out of the package 10 years ago. They even have that super shiney surface and new card smell to them. I was amazed because the one's in my book I havn't taken a card out since I put them in, until today I was shocked. The corners are perfect. The boxed duplicate cards look new too. Although not as good as the booked one (probably because I've hand'ed them more) So im thinking for my self anyway that im gonna keep my ATC"s in that :D and for the ocasional or 3d card that dosn't fit, I;ll use the card box.

Dag my collection will have to take a back seat maybe to my ATC's :D I've been wanting to get around telling yall about those plastic babies, but keept forgeting. :)

Hello everyone!
Wanted to let everyone know that my daughter has joined the project and I posted five entries for her tonight. She will only be able to get on WC for a limited time each day and I will have to post her cards for her, so if something gets mis-posted under my name forgive us.
It felt so good to be able to sit quietly in the studio today and just create with her. Life has been SOOOOO crazy lately. Most of the cards I wanted to trade for are already gone :crying: but I have a few new ones so maybe I'll be able to snag some future ones.
I got a little crazy and made some REAL DIFFERENT cards. Not for everyone, I know, but fun to experiment. Besides, I like the idea of interactive art where the viewer physically participates. C&C always welcome and appreciated.

 I love this. LOL Yall know I love all things toilet. :) Im gonna admit right now that I grew up with one of these from age 15 until I moved out at 20. LOL I LOOOATHED IT! I could not wait to move out on my own :p and luckily by the time winter of 96 came around. EEEK :) Although ours was not as suave and deboner (lol) as this fine example :D The dang house was 150 plus (maybe older, somone just threw it togeather so its in no style to date it) year old tiny, itty bitty (I prefer to call it a shack) :) Its going to be tore down this year. IM happpppy for that. :) i get to watch cus I work a few feet away at night. (in another awfull much older, damper house I think 1700's) I would not work there if not for the fact that there is a nice potty 3 to choose from  IM glad to live in the burbs where the houses are in this centruy and only work over there now. p LOL I would have killed for a two holer when I was 15 though LOL

It would be really good if you mark the traded cards as "traded" in the TITLE of the uploaded card, not in the DESCRIPTION..we have a mass of cards here and its hard work to open all cards you like and than you see in the description, it's traded. Mark it in the TITLE, so you have all information about trading from all cards at one screen......
Thanks and have a nice week

Ahem, do you mind if I pinch a couple of designs from your card? Juuuuust a couple!!! I'm doing another one of my shadow puppet cards and I'm having trouble looking for designs to stick on their body. I am extremely grateful your card appeared in time. Thanks!

Hello all, from a lurker!
I signed up a week or two ago, then went out of town. I'm back, I did some ATCs while on vacation, I just have to take pictures of the little devils and post them, hopefully in the next few days(there's so much to catch up on after being gone, sometimes I wonder if it's worth it!) I'm doing a series on trees, little watercolors of different trees. It came about because while I was out painting I realized I was stuck in a rut with the type of trees I was painting! Here I was in a completely different part of the country, with completely different trees than at home, and I started to make them look like the ones at home. So, I started really looking at them, and thought I could use some practice with different techniques. Hopefully, I learn something along the way. I've been having a great time and wish I didn't have to go to work and could just stay home and paint!
See you soon, Terry
PS, I love what you all are doing and can't hardly wait to get in on the trading!

Hello,

I can see two entries for you. Just missing the title here: Enter the fog (based on the file name?). You can still just edit the entry (explanations on how to edit project entries here (http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2663463#post2663463)).

Nice forest, it has a Chinese or Japanese look.

Anne

Thanks for the pointers. I went and looked and had two of each card for some reason. I tink I have it all fixed now. :)
I am totally blown away by how many ATCS there are since this started. It's awesome to see so many marvelous mini works of art from everybody. Especially since so many of you have never made on before. It's remarkable how well you have all transitioned to working in such small scale. You're all naturals at this. I know a bunch of folks that would absolutely LOVE to trade cards with all of you.

Hello lurker Terry!
Welcome to the mad house!
I don't usually draw trees either but did a couple of cards with them and found that working in such a small area help me to concentrate on the tree shape and not put excessive detail into them which I am guilty of doing! :( They seemed to turn out better than if I tried drawing them on a larger scale!

Not only will you find it fun doing ATC's but there a great people here with different styles and techniques and you learn alot with out realising it!

I have been finding out about different native animals in my country and been painting them. Its amaising what you find out when you really look for stuff on the internet.

Your idea on using the cards to do a "tree" study is a great idea. Good for you. :wink2:

Well, I started out chasing the rivetters down and trying to dismantle their jeans, but when I saw how strong they were, I just talked them into rivetting my cards and they brought their own itty-bitty rivets. :wink2: Hey if you are going to do ATC's ya gotta think small, but you can still think smart :D
( Actually if you are really interested you can find amazing supplies in the scrapbooking and sewing aisles. Some of it is cutesy wootsy like heart shaped brads, but approached creatively and with an open mind there are some superb collage, mixed media elements to be had. The sewing stuff is cheaper and more versatile)

Thank you to everyone who made me feel welcome to the site. I just joined and am having a lot of fun seeing art from so many different artists. The work I have seen is so beautiful. I look forward to trading with you guys!

Thanks for joining up  it feels good to hop on here and see new folks getting into this wonderful addiction.

Hi all, I have a trading card ready to upload. do I post a picture of it here or just go upload it now?

Do we trade it with someone else who wants to trade with us?

thanks
P

Sombody probably already answered your question :) but if they havn't I'll tell you that we got free range chicken style of trade going on. If you like a card or somone wants your card, PM them and ask. We are also working on a first come, first serve basis. If you have a hot card and are getting pm'd to death over it; it's the first PM you ought to grant that card ECT. Thanks for joining up and welcome! Also I almost forgot When you've traded a card mark the card as traded by pressing the "My Projects" button under project tools on the main projects page. There you will be able to edit your descriptions. :)

This is new to me. I wonder who came up with this great idea of ATC's. I think that I will read more about it, and look at some of the cards submitted and see if I can give it a try. :)

Welcome Lady Love  Im gonna have to find that website that has the origanal creators name, but I do know it was done in 97. One of the links on the projects splash page should send you to one I think. Welcome again  Be prepared to be addicted

LOL  It reminds me of so much :) an x boyfriends grandmother to be exact. Every thing had to be cooked in greese, and she would get offended if you didn't gorge. LOL it was never like in my house "how many eggs do you want, how many pieces of bacon do you want?" ECT, but she had to cook 2 dozen eggs, two packages of bacon (Im not over exagerating either) a mountain of biscuits, lol man! the list goes on. And then would be ruling the table with an Iron fist! The whole time you were eating it, "Come on now! Eat up! I worked all morning. Ain't ya hungry hun? Its it that you don't like my cooking? Come on yall, clean your plates, I don't want anything to go to waste!" LOL! I ate all I could handle before she started in with the aint you hungry speech. I found myself (at the time 30 now) 19 years old and hollowing out my biscuit to shove egg in like a 10 year old. I don't know how I pulled it off, but she must have had bad eyes but it worked :D

Anyhow :) Yet another card that pulled a story out of me :D LOL We all know this woman in the card one way or the other. Great card
