Hey Guys. Well I just found out on the mixed media splash page that a great tragedy has hit sassybirds life. Dave, Of which I believe is her husband passed away.

I've only made two good ATC cards that havn't hit the trash from looking cruddy, and I was holding them back until I made more to trade and my scanners down. I hope you guys don't mind but Im going to donate those cards to Sassybird to show my sympathy and how much she is in my prayers. I feel so heart broken that this has happend to her :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying:

I think these came out great! I am going to try a diptych or a triptych too. I did these roosters you can see on my website but they aren't really a combined picture. I guess they are more of a series of two. These are great you are too critical of yourself!

Hello,

I finally managed to post the last ATC I traded in december already... and I'm still late for a couple of administrative procedures... :(

Since beginning of january, I managed to spend only 3 hours on art (I've been twice 30 minutes late to my 2 hours painting lesson!), but I feel much better with a job than without.

I'm still looking at what is produced here, and I hope to be back one of these days.

Hi Everyone! Just letting you know that I'm still alive and kicking - although drowning with too much work. I wish I can spend more time doing art but I don't have that luxury at the moment.

For those I owe cards, to, I promise to organize them all this weekend and send them out next week. That's a promise! I'm really sorry for the delay.

I've received so many beautiful cards lately but feel guilty because I promised to send my cards ages ago but never got around to. :crying:

Hey Nitsa, the cherries arrived the other day and they are much better IRL. Let me know if you're interested in trading with any of my available cards. Your recent flower series are incredible - such talent!

I do have cards to trade. About 9 have a look in this link. (http://groups.msn.com/ATCEXCHANGE/artistgodzonedsatcs2005.msnw?Page=1)

They are posted all over the place in the other ATC projects here on wetcanvas but the above link is the best place to look, they are all together there.

Look out for my link in my signature line also in the future. I'll put it there too. Sorry been a bit slack on the uptake.

Cool glad you got them safely.
I keep forgetting that you guys have snow. We are in the middle of a hot summer here. So beautiful with all the flowers, bees and birds about. But it's not so dry as last year. We have rain every now and again to give us rest from the heat.

Soon the grapes will be ready and then the leaves will begin to fall and suddenly it will be white on the hills for us again.

bit heavy handed on the beading of the 'music stand', but like the colours.
the sheet music is deliberately reversed to show the music moving backwards across the page. it is supposed to be part of the symbolism...as in unstitched.

Hi Joel,
thanks for the interest in Leilani Pearl. Sorry, I am not computer/camera literate like Debs so not much to view here. But L is great. At seven weeks yesterday, she weighed nearly 6kg but because she is slender and long, still manages to fit a few newborn clothes. Her brother LOVES her. Kisses and hugs her, nearly squashing her in his eagerness to display affection, and nearly runs her over when trying to get her to join him and play with his toys.
That means gorgeous little Mishael Rose is only a kg or so bigger, at nearly six months older. Mishael is a petite, lively, cheeky wee girl who I love dearly.
Debs is a great parent - as you would expect, and still uses cloth nappies.
I think she deserves a sainthood for it. I contribute to land fill with disposables... Ciao for now. Black Pearl

Love this. Your whimsical colours remind me of Stumptail Monkey's works.
Have also liked dragons since childhood. Plus curiously enough, yon dragon's head reminds me of my g.g.grandmother's blue 50's swim cap. A nobbly thick rubbery thing. (no offence meant, I was very fond of playing with it when young)

Well looks like you explained things right and you have links to explain things further. Looks like they are just lazy and not wanting to read it all. But saying that some look like they have caught on to the idea. Sometimes its a bit scarey starting something new.

Wow Vanessa, 6kg (13lbs) at 7 weeks. My kids probably weighed that much when they were a year old. In fact it's Louie's second b-day today and he probably weighs no more than 12 kg! Anyway, they're small (at less than 2kg when they were born) to start with.

I'm happy to hear that she's doing OK and that her elder brother (here he would be called "KUYA" - pronounced as "koo-ya"; a big sister is "ATE" - pronounced as "ah-te") adores her.

Our living room is like a boxing or a wrestling ring a lot of times. The two boys have so much energy!

Cheers to all!

Joel

Hi Vanessa,

Unfortunately, the above Modigliani has been sent off to Nitsa already. However, like I said in my previous reply, I just finished another one and IMHO, the last one is my best - in terms of skin tone, color, etc.

Unfortunately, I have been unable to scan it and post it in my gallery. Will try to do it later, though.

Cheers!

Hiya,

Just painted a few art cards for the first time ... hope the size is right, 3 1/2" x 2 1/2", yes?

These are done in watercolor on 140 lb. watercolor paper and india ink.

There are 2 from a series I'm doing of 3 that are the 'motherhood' series, and the other 2 are from the 'floating' series.

Hugs,
Dee

Unfortunatley my warped sense of humour means it reminds me of doing well women health checks in my nursing work ...I shall say no more.( suffice to say, be glad you are male  ).

Hugs,
Dee

Very lovely. Welcome.
Now just waiting for you to enter the atc project, upload some images and make some trading available! I am in the queue. :p

Joel I got your cards today...They are wonderful, thankyou!
Have mine arrived yet?

Hi Nitsa, I'm glad the Does and the Modigliani arrived safely in the UK. I'm even more glad that you liked them and that they are welcome in their new home.

Your "Cherries" arrived ages ago but the one in exchange for Mr. and Mrs. Doe hasn't arrived yet. It should be on its way and I'll let you know once it pops up from the mail.

Cheers!

Dear friends from Kiwiland (Vanessa and Debbie), happy to see that the two of you are still at it - - I mean visiting our little exchange corner here at Wetcanvas.

I wonder how we can revive the glory days of the ATC exchange. I remember the days when Gudrun had to complain because she could not catch up reading the posts in the discussion thread. You know how it is now. :crying: :crying:

Anyway, no use in fretting, ey? I just hope more people like dd50 turn up (hi dd50, cool cards!) so that the ATC will be active again.

Cheers!

Joel

p.s. Vanessa, that's exactly what you said about one of my graphite nudes - how very consistent of you. lol :D

I did? Oops. I'd better retire. I thought the joke was 'once a doctor always a doctor'. Must be true for nurses also?!
I also miss the busyness but this pace suits my current pace I must admit, and I am enjoying having the time to delve deeper into friendships via occasional PM's.

Cool series Debbie, quite imaginative titles too.

Hey, is yur avatar a photo or a painting of Mishael? It is so beautiful my eyes keep going up to look.

Cheers!

Joel

p.s. I joined the post card exchange project and I am truly amazed at the quality of work being exchanged. Here's the link to that project:
http://www.wetcanvas.com//Community/Projects/index.php?cmd=view_details&proj_id=829

I feel so inadequate not only because I don't think I am of the same level of talent/expertise, but also because I am sooo delayed in making and sending out the postcards. Whils others have sent out more than 20 already (there are 25 participants), I have sent out only 4 and only 1 has received it so far (Erica/Weckster).

Anyway, I've finished 2 more and will send them out later. Have a good weekend everyone!

Thanks Joel.

My Avatar is a photo of Mishael she is now 9 months old! Man time flies! With practice I could paint like that but not at the moment. Although the painting of my niece in my signature line is pretty close to photo realistic. I surprised myself this time. (Posted in Watercolour Gallery - Watercolour classroom March- its a sticky at the top at the mo.) There you'll see my progress, along with others, and the finished product then the very finished product. :wink2:

The postcard project sounds good. What about the painting protection while posting? Rains sometimes in transit so Watercolours will be affected. The post mark will hardly print on a plastic covering. I may have a look though.

Well better go and get the day started before my little lady wakes and wants breakfast.

Happy weekend to you all.

Hey Guys

Im on a new ATC card wave now that my creative energies have turned back toward it, I just finished two more, finally mailed to sassybird and what I owed to BP. Life is still sitting on my head, but at least my energies turned back toward ATC. Im sorry if ive been absent allot :( Somtimes when life goes bad I go into hermit mode, online and RL. I having seen some folks since november (RL) Its a bad way of dealing with rough times but somtimes its the only way I know how, especily with the new family tradgedy I wont mention it however because im escaping from it right now.

Im really excited about the two cards I've just finished because I feel as if they are the best I've ever made. It might have somthing to do with the strong emotions I've gone through. But im very pleased.

Noadi :) I took a peep at that web site you spoke of about where you speak of some people not getting the point. :D I know that one all too well. Deb hit the nail on the head about the links. They gotta get some examples going on not just to get a better idea but inspiration on other folks have done. I could not help but chuckle about the person wondering if folks would be mad if they did it on business cards. LOL Id hate to think ATC cards would get any smaller than they already are. Could yall imagine business card size  Some people don't like to read long explanations, but when it comes to ATC cards, there aint no way of avoiding it. But, for folks that won't read the directions Im afraid that answering the questions as they come, and repeating yourself over and over again are the only options. And as deb said but with a twist, Pelt them with links. Most of the time when folks see examples of other peoples work I gets them excited, not just because they get to see what can be done on a card, but they get excited about what they may get to own. I've noticed too that the real addiction dosn't begin until an actual trade has been done. Just ask Deb LOL She knows all about the ATC card addition. Big Hugs DEB! Man good luck to you. I think once you've whipped them into shape they should be making some awsome cards. Id say it will be well worth the effort. PS I love the person's signature line that says "my anus is bleeding" LOL You don't know how long I guffawed over that. :D

Let me tell you a good example of lazyness, I have to email pics of my cards to family members and friends because when I send the link to the act gallery they won't be able to look at it unless they register, and they are too lazy to register. Frustrating!

But know yall see why I was so surprised that this project worked out so quick and well, because even somthing as cool as ATC cards is hard to sell on some folks. I guess its the new thing. I tried to get my friend into it and she said "those are the only rules..." I said "Yep, as far as I know anyway" She said. "Do the cards have to be your own idea?" I allmost smacked my fore head when she said this then I realized she was serious. I said "Dude...that just goes without saying" She just grunted in dissapointment. I knew then it wasn't flying well.

I hear you Joel, I've been thinking about the format we have going on too, and i've been missing the tar out of our old timers. But I tried to make it where peeps can pick it back up and put it down when they wanted too. That at least may have worked. I've been thinking about the ole atc project allot lately. Here are some thoughts:

Its good points, Is that the gallery here is superb. Individual galleries, progress galleries and the option to look at every card ever made is a real boon. At a glance from the one page I can look at every participant, and every participant who's submitted cards and how many. If watched regularly I can tell who's got new cards by looking at the number. Discussion isn't that much of a problem for me like it used to because I click on my own name and find my own posts and go from my last post to current. The ability to comment on a card and have the card posted with our comments is awsome. also you know of any new person just by looking at the number change on the top of the project splash page, And the biggest boon of all is being able to edit the title of our cards so that we can mention if somthings been traded or not. Without that last thing I don't think it could have been done.

Bad points, The bad points are The project gets pushed down so far its gonna be hard to get new people involved. Information is another problem for old and new people, such as tips on card creation, and other info. there is no way to keep it togeather except on the splash page which is un editable, and lol is hardly read I think. We rely on a single (lol) 200 some odd page string. To find this information. So unless some one is willing to brew a pot of coffee and enjoy the past crazyness, well, who wants to do all that. Im one of those wierdo's that would find it kind of neat but I already know whats all been said since opening day so I can't :D

I think my system of people being able to pick it up and put it down, is working. Becuase we don't want to take away from big art projects and allot of time projects can become pressures. But, I think the slow down experience is that the project gets pushed down and new folks don't know about it and the info thing; they just don't know what to do.

Any how I've been trying to think of clever ways too fix things. Its not easy though. The probs that arose when this was shut down caused allot of confusion among the folks that took a break and came back. So a new project my not be the greatest of ideas, also it confuses folks as to where to go. If it comes down to a new one, then we have a limited time before the same trouble arises. Im gonna have to think like an ATC card for this one :D They problem may be able to be solved with little upset if I can work it in my brain. I havn't looked yet but it looks like there is still no fourm. Any suggestions are groovy.

And Joel, Don't you be downing your cards! I see nothing wrong with your cards at all. There is no pressure in ATC cards :) I happen to like your cards  And I have good taste! LOL

Well tootles I wanna gloat over yalls cards :)

Thanks Nista  I was thinking about what you said with a twist. If we really want to get this sucker going on again, but keep the breakers from getting lost in the sauce, what do yall think of a link back to this one in the new one, so they can kind of cross each other. That way folks that want to keep thier whole gallery togeather can do so. What do yall think of that one. It will also give me a chance to compose a more informative splash screen.

As far as the other stuff go.....After thinking loooong and hard I can't think of a better way to put the info inshort of creating a website as a separate entity to put faq info and that sort of thing. which is what im thinking of doing. Won't be easy sharing one computer with the male folk now but I may be able to muster it once I find my wysiwyg software. I could slap a humble freebie message board in it too. Then I could leave the link for folks to info gather in my signature (that needs updating.) and on the splash page. But since you can't modify the splash a few weeks after you have done it I need to really think about what im going to write. The last time when I threw up this one it was. "Jump in with two feet before I really lose my nerve!" LOL

Anymore suggestions guys :)

I personally feel that linking back to this thread in the new one would kindda defeat the object of closing it. A link on this one to the new one is essential for the breakers but having one back just confuses things, I think and seems a little pointless.

If there are any available ATC's left on this project they can use those to upload onto the new project thread as their starter stash, that way members won't have to claw through over 100 ATC's to find available ones.

Just my tuppence worth! ;)

Good ideas. There are many ATC projects now and covers most subjects painted.

I find those projects better to post my work in. I also post my cards on my website and change them regulary when traded. So only the last 3 traded are on there (and marked accordingly) and all others are available. All past traded cards are deleted from my website to save others asking for them again. :D

Just my tuppence worth! ;)

Yep Deb said it in a nut shell. All of them are active except the november I think, allthought I havn't peeped in that one in a looooong time. Anyhow if you have a specific subject that fits in that catagorie any of them are fine if they don't fit in the catagorie slap it on here.

When I get some more cards made I plan to cross post all of my cards here so that I only have to have one link to my gallery on my sig. I hope no one minds that but it keeps things simple for me.

Im still way behind on the card commenting so im gonna take a peek guys :)

Paul is fine, he will be 9 months on the 19th, 4 teeth, loves standing up (with support), so he'll probably walk before crawling.

Thomas (5 years) loves his brother. They are really cute when they laugh together (a bit less when they both cry).

LOL two seasons ago I tried to make chocolate truffles. KEY WORD-"tried" LOL and failed miserbly. You see, I substitued chamborge instead of the orange kind ( HEy I don't drink so Im never sure what to use) WELL chamborge is sweet enough to kill (thats why I like it on grapfriut takes the bitter out better than sugar), and I didn't change a thing with the sugar, and I didn't cook out all the alcohol sooooooo you got a buzz and a sugar head rush. LOL NO one liked them.

I have 2 mini masters finished and 2 more in the process of finishing.
Waves to Joel! Excited to hear you'll be doing the mini master too! Hope all is well with you and your lovely family.
Vanessa, I understand the energy thing esp. with your little one!
Morgie, I am waiting for some drawings! :wink2:

I am off to see what's been added to the galleries!

Hi morgie

Thanks Debbie! Those are some of my better contributions to the Postcard Exchange Project. I thought I would give the participants a taste of the Philippines so I drew mostly local-flavored paintings. Here's a link to my PC gallery (in case you're interested):

You guys should have joined it - so much fun and encouragement going around.

Hi Avie, I'm all gettin gexcited about your new project on mini masters. I have 2 of my modiglianis lined up for that.

The family is OK - as you can see I managed to take a photo of Monty and Louie in the same pose as my old avatar - they are definitely much bigger now, quite a handful, really. I hats off to my wife for spending 24 hours with them.

Hope Nathaniel's gymnastics is doing great. Shall we see him in the 2008 China Olympics?

Hey jlloren  Your paintings were awsome! You certainly a doing super.

And about that masters project that is up and coming. ....can it be ancient art, or does it have to be a specific old master? Can it be from an unknown master.

Hi Joel! You'll have to give Godzoned credit for that, I am just providing a forum to put it on. You can't register until May 16th. Can't wait to see your modiglianis tho!
Gymnastics season is over, right now Nathaniel is wrestling and taking gutiar lessons. He might be a little young for competeing in the 2008, lol :D although he'd love to go see them.

Your wife is a trooper! Those boys are beautiful but I bet that they can be a handfull!

BTW your post cards are amazing!

Masters I define as Artists that have "made it" in the art scene. Weather dead of alive. That paint for a living and make thousands/millions or more on just one piece of artwork. Could be a local artist... an artist from the last centry..... any fantasy artist like Brian Froud, and that guy that did the drawings for Lord of the Rings..... man I hate flu's they make me forget things.... so it is a very large category.

My main motivation in this project is to discover a name I haven't heard of before that is a well known artist and learn something by a masters technique/style. You may also discover something about your "sleeping" talents..... :wink2:

Well gotta go and check the rest of the WC subscriptions....

I hope you feel better Deb!

Oh, Nuts I'll have to use that idea for a separate card then. I was gonna see if I couldn't make a baby mosiac of an ancient mosicac, KEY word...Try lol Im still gonna have to try one, It's been naggin my brain, Anyhow the problem with those are the names. But It I can come up with sombody eles :D Man I can name a few fantasy artists I adore, however OMG, I don't think I could draw like them, to me the fantasy artists are the masters master. They are also my first loves in art since child hood. Hey, I already Have a wide collection of Fantasy art cards. Now do you mean to copy a master or mimic thier style? LOL I should quit picking at your brain since you'll cover some of thsi stuff when you get it rolling

Ya'll know me, I always have to be a pain in the butt :D

Try to do do one of your favorite fantasy pieces by your favorite artist! You can learn a lot that way! Your version of their work nobody is going to be grading you on it! Do it in your style or their style... the point is to have fun with it!

I totally agree. And also for Joel's stuff and Godz' stuff and...

By the way, Avie the title I had in mind to suggest was 'nocturne'.
But that might be a bit too sombere for your lovley moons.
So how about 'fly me to the moon ' two.
Or 'when the moon cries', or 'in black' or 'laughter pearls' or 'moonlight' or 'moonsheen' ... boy I am scraping the barrel here. Help me guys.

Thank you Morgie! The beaded moon isn't an ATC it is actually 6inches by 4 inches. (Don't ask me metric...lol!!!) I was thinking of giving it to my hubby for our 12th anniversary coming up on May 22. See this way I don't have to actually part with it!

Those are some great suggestions BP! Originally I was thinking along the lines of 'The Celestial Visitor' but I like some of your idea's too esp. 'Moonsheen' hhuummm...

Wow. Twelve years. I am impressed and congratulate you both.
Laughed over the dog photo for mother's day. Heh heh, does that look like a prolapse?
Thought of another title for your beaded beauty. Especially as I reckon your man would like it. Nik (mine) does.
'By the light of the silvery moon...'

Totally unrelated, I remembered just now an old Arabic proverb..which to me is striking in it's beauty and simplicity.
"My home is poor, but you may sit in the light of my eyes".

Looks like we made it! Here is our wedding picure out on the Beach in 1993 where I grew up. He is 1year and 1month younger than me. See that's the trick is get em young and train em right! :wink2:

The dog photo is great, how many times have we all felt her pain! I think I feeling it right now!

And Miss Vanessa you might have everyone else fooled but we all here at WC know how deep your river runs! I absoutly love 'By the Light of the Silvery Moon'! It is perfect and the beaded painting will now reflect a little piece of my NZ family in with the name. *sigh*

Deb's!!!!!!!!! My hubby is working on the website as I speak (um, well type)! Anyone who wants to will get to register by tommrow morning and help us sniff out the little glitches before it is open to the general public. If ANYONE is interested in helping out and getting a sneak peak PM me asap with your e-mail address and you will be included. I am working on an Piccaso embroidery piece for the mini masters and I can't flippin wait. Nathaniel and I are also working on a little gift for each of those helping us out with the forum. Just a little thank you.

Hugs to all,
Avie

Hiya all, long time no chat!
Some great pieces here since I last visited.

I was wondering....Are giclee (sp?) prints ok for ATCs'?
I have a few LE prints of some larger artworks...Let me know and if OK I'll upload them.

Cheers!

Hi Nitsa!

I am not for sure but I think you mean Glacee print maybe.

I trade prints for prints and I think that they are really great. Many artists only trade for originals so just be clear on what they are when you post them. Another thing to keep in mind is that prints like wood block, or etching's are considered originals. I consider digital works orginals if there is going to be only one made.

If you make some prints PLEASE let me know, I would love to do a trade with you!

Avie :D

Hi Avie,
I've checked and my spelling was correct...it is giclee.
However, I believed this mean home printed and it doesn't...I don't think! LOL!

I guess I'll start again....Is it ok to swap ATC prints run off on a home printer?...obviously they would be signed and limited. :)

Well you really peaked my interest in a giclee print! I googled it and here is a link (http://www.gicleeprint.net/abtGclee.shtm) I found about it. Very interesting! I do my prints at home on the computer too if you do it be sure to use the highest quality paper and the finest printer settings, I also set my printer to use heavier ink and drying time so I get the best quality print possible. If you don't take these extra steps your print will fade over time.

Good luck!

Hi all - i just found this thread and was wondering if it is still active. it looks like it's been a while since anyone posted, so i am not sure. if it is NOT still active and someone happens to see this, does anyone know other sites where ACTs are being traded? i am brand new to it, and would love to hook up with others to trade, or just to see what everyone else is doing.
