Hey Bioartist has started up an ATC project on people. Check it out. Cool stuff!

So now we have the following ATC projects.

November ATC's (http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/Projects/index.php?cmd=view_details&proj_id=777)

People ATC's (http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/Projects/index.php?cmd=view_details&proj_id=803)

Vanessa,
I was making a tally of the cards I have yet to receive and this one, our first trade ever (sometime October), has not arrived. I believe it may have gotten lost in the mail because everything you sent after this has safely found it's to the Philippines. It's such a pity because this is a truly beautiful card.

Cheers!

Hi June. Amanda (AJR) has been inactive for quite sometime now. Her last PM to me was sometime in October, telling me that she will be mailing a card soon as her husband could take her to the post office. Up to now, the card has not arrived and she has not responded to several follow-ups (made by me and Debbie).

I think she's not well and has not been accessing WC for sometime.

Let's just hope she's OK.

Regards,
Joel

Hi everyone!

As the original ATC project is getting so huge that its becoming hard to view, I've added a new Nature ATC project to complement the animals and people projects:

Nature ATC Project (http://www.wetcanvas.com//Community/Projects/index.php?cmd=view_details&proj_id=804)

Florals, landscapes, leafprints, abstracts, 3D works etc all welcome. I hope some new people can be inspired to have a go at making ATC's and join in the fun.

I havn't read the posts yet, but before I got started with that long task, I wanted to give you guys a heads up as to why you havn't heard from me in the past two weeks. I hope you guys are not mad :(

I've been dealing with some personal problems of late (I won't get into it now because I don't want to be depressing) BUt anyhow, I've been very busy of late and diving into drawing to calm my nerves and all. Also things may get allot busier in the next two weeks, so I wanted to give yall a heads up on that too.

But the main thing I wanted say is that I hope you guys bear with me on this. I havn't forgotten the project or ATC's or you guys. IM just dealing with allot of stuff right now.

The other thing is Im not going to have allot of money to trade allot. Im going to continue acumulating ATC cards for when I can. I am going to send out the ATC cards that I owe people, and leave the new cards for when I can trade again. I did have to acumlulate more cards anyway, but I wanted to let you guys know that anyhow that I can't trade any new cards right now. BUt hopfully things will be more financilly sound in a month or two.

With that said, Keep churning out them cards, Even the one's yall snap up before I can get to it, I can still admire and enjoy :D

Big Hugs

Morgie

I am compleatly over joyed that you guys are bumping out new projects

On multiple projects and confusion and all that, I think thats going to go hand and hand until the day ATC finally gets its own place and fourm. But until then I think its a good idea for all of us to stress that cross trading is allowed; and the best place to sign up would be any or all. The more projects, the more people the closer ATC is to getting its own fourm where we can publish articals on important creating tips, ECT. :D

I welcome all of you that have recently jumped on the bandwagon and urge all of you that havn't voted for an atc fourm to head on over to the website discussion fourm and cast your votes.

 As for me, when I get back to trading again Im joining all of the ATC projects. HEHHEHEHHEHEHEHHEHE I can't wait until life goes back to normal, that im going to be a compleate heathen when it does. LOL

Also page 30, 31, or 32 of this thread has a gathering of the best card creation tips concived in this thread. just to let some of you folks know. LOL it took me hours to compile it, but Ill do a re compliling one day when I got more time to do so.

Its certainly safe to say that ATC have a whole new life of there own on WC now :D

Hi Morganna. I wondered where you'd gone???

Hope all settles down for you soon.

We are on our way to an ATC forum of our own here at WC, I bet...any day now -as it is definitely taking off with lots of interest and participation.

I never even heard of ATCs till I joined your project. They are 'darling' little cards. Soppy time of year. :music: :music: :D :cat:

I do hope you will join in the imagination/fantasy ATC project too.

Joel,
I am so disappointed for you. I am so careful on addressing and posting correctly too.
I to am keeping my fingers crossed that the black mail void will yield up lost post also.. I have three that have not reached me so far, yet my address is a simple P O Box.
Unfortunately, I cannot even do a decent copy of the original, as I did that 15 years ago, and chose to share them with ATC project rather than just keep them to myself.

Just checking in quickly to say hello. Thanks to everyone who commented on my last round of cards.

I have to say that the whole picking and choosing of cards to trade is bringing me down, so here's my deal: if you like my stuff, and want some of it, just PM me with the cards (yes, CARDS, in multiples, because it costs the same to send 3 as it does to send one) that you'd like, and they're yours---I just want the same number of your cards in return, and I'll leave it to you to choose them for me.

This is more like the type of trading I'm used to---you send me 3, I send you 3, and we're both pleasantly surprised at what arrives in the mail. I'm perfectly thrilled to have anyone else's cards, in any media, any time.

Having said that, I received this card from Kath:

It's OK Vanessa. We sometimes do not get what we want but always get what we need. Somebody is probably enjoying the beautiful card more than I would have, so that person has it. He/she better be taking care of it though; otherwise. . . oh well.

Mustone... great puzzle card ideas!

Glad you received the tulips Lisa---I am honored to be next to Joel in your ATC collection. He's a wonderful artist and person. :D

I'm busy doing some group swaps lately. I have jumped into an abstract collage swap and am happily trading away some of the extra images that have collected here in the studio and my home (can we say "pack-rat'?) So I am the collage queen for a while. It is a nice break from the painting. :D

I also have a 16 x 20 inch canvas to start and finish before my Mother's birthday---which is December 24th!!!!!!

Needless to say, I feel a bit like a washing machine spinning around, dizzy--but still getting the job done. I think. LOL

I hope to do some more original type ATC's soon. The time machine is being stingy with the minutes and hours lately. BLAH!

Hugs to all---and Happy Holidays my friends!!!!

I appreciate the pictures Avie! Being we are both in the same storm path. We didn't receive the amount of snow you did. We have a layer of ice from Wednesday, then 2 - 3" of snow, then 1/2" ice, and finally 2 - 3" of snow. Our trees here are growning from the wieght of ice and they are thicky frosted with a snowy coating. Very beautiful, but dangerous to those depending on the power to remain on. If we lose power we will be very inconvienanced with Christmas Eve food details, but we have an alternative heat source.
Weckster, my year has been greatly blessed with the atc forum. It has been so much fun and I have some of the most creative and neatest works by artist near and far.

hello all, has BP had her little baby yet?

can't wait to hear about her.

P

Happy New Years everyone, it is 7am on New Years Eve here.
Ya know. She is 10 days overdue and I am thinking she is just too cosy...I have two more days to get her into action, before my midwife wants to induce.
However strangely enough, my attitude has improved since the due date came and went.
I have been walking (okay waddling), picnicking, gardening (weed control, no tree chopping like last time), and even to the (heated indoor) pool.
She is in position at last and I am thinking - after no sleep last night, that I might actually be in real early latent labour at last. Was always good with a dead line. Will let you all know I promise.
Meanwhile, enjoy trading without the atc lurker muscling in... :p

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!

Avie, Vanessa (I bet you're holding little Baby Pearl in your arms by now) and the rest of the gang: thanks a ton for the concern! I'm alive and kicking and as Anney said, we are quite a safe distance from the affected areas. It just makes me so sad to think of the nearly 200,000 who perished and the millions of people directly affected by this tragedy.

I guess it's a painful wake up call for all of us to appreciate what we have and not to take our loved ones for granted.

I hope the new year will bring abundant blessings and a lot of love and affection for everyone.

Cheers!

Hello. Due to insistent public demand (by Avie, he-he-he :D ), I am posting my acrylics work here. I hope the others don't mind.

This is on a 9x12 WC paper. For comparison, I am also attaching the reference photo which I got from the image library (thanks!).

As usual, there are so many mistakes that can be seen after scanning. I'll have to rework on some spots here and there.

Cheers and thanks for looking.

Avie,
I think I like them both although acrylics is more versatile and allows for correction. I like the transluscence in watercolor, although very hard to achieve.

You are very talented too, in case no one has told you (which I doubt) and your work is most admirable and unique - specially your needle work.

I have just had 3 watercolours and 1 acrylic painting accepted into a local art gallery! That was out of 7 paintings I showed the gallery curator.

Now all hopes are that I sell them! :wink2:

See the paintings - links here:
water over rocks - acrylic (http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=237709)
Waxeye in a pear tree - watercolour (http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=237582)
Lady bird - watercolour and pen (http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=217697)
Ladybird in flight - watercolour and pen (http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=216719)

Just had to tell someone! I'm sooooo excited!

p.s. the stamp (a painting by an Albert Edelfelt) is beautiful. Is Edelfelt a Finnish artist. Sorry for my ignorance but that's the first time I've seen his painting.

Yes , Albert Edelfelt is Finnish painter. They made a stamp because it's been 150 years from his birth. Here is a link to his retrospective exhibition (http://www.ateneum.fi/default.asp?docId=11876)

Nice to hear from you Kathleen and Debbie.

Hey Kathleen, what have you been up to lately. I'd like to see more of your cards. Please make some.

Debbie, congratulations to Mishael and lucky you to have your baby sleeping for 12 solid hours! I've been looking at your posts in the other forums and I think you are improving a LOT! I am awed by your WIP acrylics painting of the beach with footstpes in the sand. The water and the incoming foamy waves are so realistic! I hope you'd show that to our friends here.

I wish I could paint and post some new cards but January is a bad time as far as work is concerned - so many reports to make and so many new projects to attend to (whew!). Also, my younger son had to be confined at the hospital for 5 days last week

Hopefully, the start of February will be better.

Cheers and regards to everyone.

A question.

Can someone give information please?

Has anyone traded cards or sent artwork internationally with craft feathers as an integral part of the work? Is that an acceptable item as far as international customs are concerned?

I know real feathers are a problem internationally for certain countries...but those sanitised craft shop feathers should present no problems, I hope.

I've sent cards on hand-made paper that incorporated craft leaves and feathers and they seemed to get through OK.

Anyone got an answer to this troubled collage question???  :D

Many thanks.

Yes they all came out of my head, I had about a month to think about what I wanted to draw. They are all noctunal animals, the ballet dancer is a hedge hog. I made her because all the others were male figures. My hubby likes the drunk cat too! LOL, go figure! The fiddle playing cricket was partly inspired by my 'Cats' series. I had a lot of fun doing them but will be taking a break now that they are finished! Too many DOTS! The owl is my fav., I want to do a large version of him!

A question.

I reckon just go for it. Why declare it when they are imported into NZ anyway? The craft feathers in my nearby store are 'made in china' and don't even look that real with all the dye used.
I recently received some fall leaves from overseas - real stuff, that lovely sender forgot might need clearance. THey were fine, other than disintegrating before I got around to using them. (sorry P.)

p.s. nice contirbutions from the new members. welcome aboard. one of these days I will start making ATCs again.

Hey I got so many beautiful and amazing cards during the last few days: from Debbie, Avie, Vanessa, Maygoblin and from our friend in Finland. Really cool cards guys! Thanks a lot. Your cards are on the way so please be patient.

Godzoned,

I totally apologize for not updating my gallery. I wasn't sure people were even looking in there anymore, with all the specialized swap projects listed. The geraniums went to Black Pearl about 3 weeks ago. :D

And the other water scene went to another swap friend on another list.

I will update asap!

I have been so busy with hosting original swaps on a new Yahoo group, that I've barely had time to do any art myself. I'm hoping that I can catch up soon and get some art done.

My daughter was sick this month, the car needed repair, and we're trying to deal with the insurance company over the hurricane damage from last summer---we need a new roof--ugh. I knew after the holidays that it would get crazy.

Okay, I'm going to finish reading all your posts. And I'm going to hunt in my work in progress folder to see if I have something I can trade!

hugs to everyone!

Hi Debbie. What you heard is kind of true but not accurate. Let me explain . . .

Here in the Philippines, we have very poor discipline. Our side walks are littered with vendors so people who are supposed to be on the sidewalks are "pushed" to the street - where they should not be because that's for vehicles. Our "intelligent" govt leaders, instead of making the vendors stay away from the sidewalks and sell their wares where they should (markets, etc.), thought of putting some kind of a wet flag onto govt trucks and hang these wet flags on the side of the trucks. They would then drive close to the side of the road so that people who are waiting for vehicles on the road instead of the proper bus stops would get wet if they are hit by the wet "flag". But it's not as bad as it seems because the people simply went up the sidewalks and just went down again soon as the truck passed. :D

They stopped it after a few days - when they probably realized how stupid the idea was!

Cheers!

Joel

HI DEBBIE!!! We know you've been busy doing big work, and doing very well at it.

Joel, sounds like fun, were do I sign up for a wet flogging!? LOL... Love the nudes! You've come really far with the acrylics!

Well I got my Black and white party swap and I will take pictures today and post them so anyone interested can see what a 'swap' is like. From now on I am not doing any that are 6 for 5. This means you make 6 cards and recieve 5 back, the swap host gets to keep 1 card from everyone. That dosen't seem right, esp. if the host is joining in on the swap too. I figure they get the five cards and the one extra they keep from every participant. Hummm.... any opinions on this matter? If there are 8 particiants (including themselves) they get 8 cards right off and then the 5 for the swap. So they make 6 cards and get 13? Am I wrong?

Happy Groundhog's Day to those in the USA :D

Hi everyone

Thanks Joel for explaining that to me. Doesn't sound as bad as the radio put it.

Avie - I particpated in a swap just before Christmas. Send 11 and get 9 back. The 2 other cards went to the orgainiser and the site co-ordinator. I was thrilled to get my nine back, but disapointed to find out later that most were just redone from a "production line", stamps, stickers and scrapbooking type of thing. All hand done though.

I had gone to all the trouble of doing all 11 cards individually and very different to each other. Me a mug? Oh well won't be participating in a swap like that again unless its one for one swaps. :D

Some do swaps in very different ways. Sometimes it just isn't quite how I thought ATC's were supposed to be. ATC's - ARTIST trading cards. Love stamps, stickers and scrapbooking if it is arty. No reproduced thousands of times. Where's the challenge in that?

Okay here is what I submitted...

and the attachments are the ones I received. I hear ya Debbie! I was walking down the scrapbooking isle at a hobby lobby and saw the stamps, stickers and embelishments that I have seen in a lot of the 'collage' pieces at these ATC groups. Why do they bother calling them ATC's. They should be Scrapbooking Trading Cards. At least SOME little part shoud be your own artwork! I think my little swap went okay. Because you had to do so many most likely there were more cheesey quick cards submitted.

FISH! I was just in Cincinnati over the weekend! I live about 3 1/2 hours from there. My son had a gymnastics meet at Kids First off of Kemper Road. We will have to meet in Louisville some time or something! Cewl! I think Debee is from Southern Ohio as well.

I am so pleased with the range and quality of atc's in these wetcanvas projects, that I have no intention of making non profit cards for anyone else.

I find these ATC's a great way of studying a wannabe painting. They give you an idea of how composition, colour and technique will look should you wish to carry the concept further in a larger piece. Very useful!

Hi everyone. I haven't popped into the project for a while, and I just realized how much I've missed. Welcome to all the new atcers and hello again to all the old ones. :D I didn't start reading the thread from where I stopped so I have no idea what's going on in everyone's lives right now but I hope it's good. :)

Anyway, I opened up the gallery and ta da... so many pretty cards! This is the first on my comment list ... absolutely vunderful!!! The earthy colours ring true to the card's title. Very naturish.

There's a sort of cubic and organic feel to this that I really like and I think purple adds spunk to it.

Hey this is a neat idea! The flower really adds to the whole cultural feel of the card. I love the expression on her face. I love the monochromaticism (is that a word?) of the card but the woman and her tag just make it look so lively and colourful.

I can't do watercolours so I admire those who do, and I especially love loosely rendered works such as this one. I'm in love with the whites of the paper you used for the light areas. :D

Lol, it's like I'm wearing my dad's super thick lens glasses when I look at the big picture, but from what I can see, it's a fantastic atc. You've got the glitter and shine of and shine and I really like how the rollercoaster and merry-go-round are fitted onto the side.

Joel, good to see that you're still around. ;) Your nude studies are looking fantastic, as usual. This has to be my favourite. The expression of her face is so serene but serious. It's like as if she's reclining for the artist and she's contemplating what he's drawing or painting. :)

Anyway, that will be my last comment for today. I'm pooped. Commenting can be a physically exhausting activity. I shall continue with the rest either tomorrow, or the day after, or the day after that, or ...

TY for the compliment!
I find these ATC's a great way of studying a wannabe painting. They give you an idea of how composition, colour and technique will look should you wish to carry the concept further in a larger piece. Very useful!
Can't wait to see what you come up with.
I find it hard to find time to skip through everyones available ATC's here on WC but hope to start sifting through them all as soon as possible.

How are you enjoying watercolours?

Just loving watercolours. Now that I know how to use them properly. :wink2:

I have new cards - Link is here.... (http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/Projects/index.php?cmd=browse_final2&userid=41633&proj_id=805)

I mix my paints up with the end of a paint brush and clean the brush with paper. I often throw these little gems out. But I am learning to appreciate them.

This is beautiful!
Boy I have missed some nice trades lately.
My youngest brother gets married to a lovely japanese lady called Mariko during spring blossom season (April 2006) and this seems a fitting tribute somehow. He is a senior teacher of english second language, in Japan.
