Wow Debbie, your latest cards are great!!! But isn't there any sentimental value attached to them? You would be giving away something that you had with you for more than ten years. :crying: Of course, those receiving them would be more than happy to grab them. :D Reall really fantastic stuff.

This is GREAT! So suits our NZ christmas weather...probably traded already, darn. If it isn't, I would love to trade for it Avie.

So sorry V. this one has already been sent off to it's new home, I will keep in mind that you liked it! Truthfully while I was adding the beads it remided me of you (wonder why)!

I did my portrait with the same method, but I hate the eyes in my portrait! When I did the design it looked good but when I added the color it just didn't look right! I guess everyone figured out it was mine even though I was wearing a mask! You all are sooooooo smart! :wink2:

I have been a little under the weather and on top of that doing christmas parties (yes they start friggin early around here!) and gymnastics stuff with my kid. His competiton season is starting up so we will be out of town every other weekend. I can't wait to go look at all the great ATC's I missed out trading on! :(

Your cards are beautiful.
Thanks!

Did you do this on linoleum or that easer type you buy at Michaels by the stamping ink.
Linoleum. For the detailed work that I do, The EZ-Cut stuff just doesn't, well, cut it. It is too soft for really, really fine lines. It works well for larger prints, and is GREAT to learn on, though!
I want to try this now. I have complete steps now to go by after taking lots of pictures. I had no idea what a reduction print was or even linoleum print.
GO FOR IT. It is a lot of fun- But I will warn you, it is addictive. Stop over to see us in the Printmaking (http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/channels.php?s=&channel_id=37) forum if you have any questions or run into any snags!

I must admit, I shied away because I did not understand it. But now it is no longer a mystery and will look forward to hopefully trading with you some day.
Me too! I'll have a whole new series out in about a month, once I am back ashore... Got some of the blocks done already!

Hello ALL,

What started out as a terrible day here at the office took for a happy turn this afternoon. I received SIX, yes 6 cards and they were waiting for me when I came back from lunch.

3 from Kathleen - the post was incredibly fast (mailed 15 Nov). It took only a week to cross the entire north america from florida and then the huge pacific ocean! The 3 cards ("Cypress#1", "Luna" and "Stargazer Lily") are all beautiful . . . I can't make up my mind which one I like best. Well, it's easy, I like 'em all!

After that, I opened a huge brown envelope from New Zealand (mailed November 4). Surprise! two works from Debbie ("Irish Red Setter" and my very own "Crab Movement") and Vanessa's Sail Boat made of shells paua shells. Again, all three are very beautiful and each one's special on it's own.

Thank you guys! It's been great trading with you!

Cheers!

I thought I would share in case you all were interested in it. Mirkwood Designs (http://www.ruthannzaroff.com/mirkwooddesigns/atcenvelope.htm) it is a template for ATC's sized envelopes. Hi ya Joel!!

I'm still around... getting ready for "Turkey Day" (our Thanksgiving holiday) and also beginning to shop for the holiday presents in December.

I'm working a lot in my art journal, playing with paint, etc.! Not many ATC's happening at the moment. :o

Glad the cards arrived safely. :D

I'm also waiting on the Pheasant card we swapped back on 10/25???? Has anyone been in contact with her lately? I hope you are doing well Sara---I pm'd you, but haven't heard back from you.  :D

Andrew and Pilan you both have me so intreged (can't spell lol) with lino printing that I dug out my old unused lino, carving tools and other carved pieces that I did ages ago. I won't be using printers ink to print them though - It maybe printed using ink pads instead. I have those. :wink2:

Sorry Morgie but that adorable little painting dragons card is all mine. It's in my ATC binder as we speak. :D

I made four more cards. It's the Soup of the Day series. The title was inspired by my heavy consumption of Chinese soup during this flu I've been battling. :p Unfortunately the project gallery is acting up as it's prone to do, so I was only able to upload one of them. I'll add the rest later.

LOL, I knew those would get nabbed. LOL Hey get better! LOL thats my pearls of wisdom on how to get over the flu. But seriously you get better  Here...I'll hold those cards for you while you recover lmao

Well, As soon as I quit ruining blank cards and get a surplus, my surplus only consists of three cards right now. :( I've been holding back to have enough at once to play with) I'll get some made if I don't keep ruining them GRRRR LOL im very anal. :) Hopfully I'll get losts of mosiacs done too. Vanessa,

My wife doesn't look like Mrs. Doe at all. I did this one trying to draw the features of a caucasian female because everytime I tried drawing with no refrence, the finished work always looks asian.

Just for you (OK, the others can peek in), here's one of my favorites photos of her and our 2 kids...

I just realized that you guys have seen my entire family but I haven't seen any of yours. We see Debbie's cute babby thru her avatar and we have photos of members as their avatars (Kathleen, Pilan, Mary, June, etc.) but it will be nice if you would also post your photos. Who knows, we might bump into each other while walking downtown (he-he) at least we'll be able to say HI!

p.s. this is how my wife looked like on our wedding day. Isn't she just lovely? Sorry, this is all Vanessa's fault. Next thing you know, I'll upload our entire wedding album :D

Just a quick note-

I am headed off to my 'real' job as a Merchant Marine officer, and will be at sea for the next month, severly limiting my ability to be online... I will still be lurking, PM me if you need me!

Thanks to everyone who traded with me this past month- It was a lot of fun- And my stock of cards is down to pretty much nothing! I am bringing some supplies with me on the ship, and will have some new designs posted soon... Keep an eye out for them!

BTW- If you are awaiting my cards already, DONT WORRY- I sent all of them out, they just haven't made it to you yet... I take care of my loose ends before leaving!

Don't be a stranger dude! See ya soon. Me...I just keep getting "Stranger" LMAO LMAO Har Har Har, sorry about the pun :D

Avie. Thanks. I will try some of those once my plain white ones run out.

 Looks really nice and I will use some nice paper for it also.

Joel, you are right. We have been quiet on the yabber front lately.

I have been really busy with meetings and painting bigger pieces.
Have coordinated six artists to meet together with a relative who is hoping to open a hotel (13 bedroom upper class B&B) at christmas.
Debs/ Godzoned has offered her invaluable professional experience voluntarily to set up contract/flyers and help me liaise and catalog everything incoming and outgoing.
He mentioned to me three days ago, that he would love to have new zealand art work for sale on the walls...and since it is in the prime gallery area of the city, and he doesn't want a 'cut' (galleries here take 30 % on average)...well I thought what an opportunity.
So it is heads down and paintbrushes up, as I only have three weeks before I think I'll deliver.
Bit scarey really, as this will be my first time selling, but the confidence I have gained from the warm reception here on ATC project has already helped me produce three 16x20 inch canvases (with 1 1/2 in self framing borders) for commissioned work just this week already.
With a distinct polynesian / new zealand theme coming through.
I will be having a chance to post them on friday or slightly later, as Godz. is coming over with gorgeious Mishael Rose and handy zoom digital camera to record these works. Yay. Can't wait.

Ummm Joel.... Mishael is a girl. lol. No offence made. pronounced: Mish-ay-el.
Even though it is a Hebrew boys name I get away with it as a girls name here in NZ. :D

I can see how the blue may have confused you. I'm not a traditional pink only for girls type of mum as you see. Although saying that I do have some pink for Mishael to wear.

Oh, you also noticed this construction fault... :wink2: Well, to be honnest, Thomas is pretty calm (especially for a boy) and Paul is not mobile yet!

From http://www.humanitiesweb.org/perl/human.cgi?s=g&p=t&a=m&letter=d
(BTW a very nice art history website)
A diptych refers to a painting, engraving, drawing or relief that is composed of two distinct parts, as compared to a polyptych, which has two or more parts. Some examples of Flemish diptychs are still in existence; they were done in the fifteenth century and show a portrait of the owner on one side and the Madonna and Child on the other side. They were used in private homes for devotion and as memorials to an owner who had died

Hey, I just came from a short tour of your website. Awesome! I like your art deco gallery a lot. I think it says a lot about the personality of the artist. And I see good things, mind you.

Joel,
Glad you didn't toss the poor little creature! :cat:

And, yes, decos are a lot of fun to pass around and trade. They are little handmade books that artists work on and pass back to the original owner when they are finished. Something like ATC's, but in a book format. I've had some real nice artwork come back home after traveling all over the world. Thanks for your compliments on my website.

It's Thanksgiving Day here in the US---so happy holidays to all who celebrate this day. :)

Hi Gudrun! Thanks a lot for this outstanding card. It arrived today. Such rich colors and texture. The gold highlights (not clear on the image) makes the card alive.

Thanks also for "Firework", the ATC that arrived with New Bouquet3. I also like it but someone else might be waiting for it because what I traded with you was the "Black Serious #1". I really don't mind as they are both beautiful but the person waiting for "firework" might have asked for it for a special purpose and is now frustrated to have received a different card.

I'll keep it (and treat it like it's mine) until I receive instructions from you.

Joel. Thank you for that. I am so darned tired that I am just plain relieved I managed to figure how to link you to these images...it took me over an hour to fiddle and enter long descriptions.
I don't have any references when I paint, other than an idea that brews a while, a desire to produce something that depicts some of my life journey and the occasional photo of myself or family member for the facial images. That is why you won't see any similar stuff around. That could be a good or bad thing.

One person managed to steal one out of upper marlboro. I could not believe it or believe how they managed to do it. So I kinda had the benifit of enjoying two rounds of painted sculptures :D Wouldn't it be neat to get the oportunity to paint one of them. That would be cool.

Well Joel he is actually very SMALL for a 9 year old. He only weighs 47 pounds on a good day! While his gymnastics coach couldn't be more thrilled (You should see the muscle on this kid!) however his doctor makes us come in for weighing every other month... sigh..... He is a forth grader, he is smaller than the first and second graders on his team.

Kathleen! Home schooling is wonderful! I do need a break sometimes but I wouldn't trade it for the world! You should be proud of your daughter! That is quite an accomplishment!

Morganna,
That cracks me up about the statues around the city! They are all race horses in Louisville (what else?) and some are outragously ugly! This was the one outside the theater where we saw 'Cats' the inspiration for my 'Cats' the musical series....

...and if I was into vodka, this baby would be mine...unfortunately I like a 'brown cow' (or used to once a year or so) which is Kahlua and milk on the rocks. Though I did get the occasional craving for a shandy during this pregnancy (1 non alc beer : 5 lemonade)...great humour and delicate drawing / colouring. :p

LOL... I was drinking a screwdriver and watching 'Elf' when I did this one over Thanksgiving weekend. Love the Holidays

'Gutter Trash' just kind of came out.... can't explain except I saw Christina on the Oprah show and she was oviously hopped up on something and couldn't form a complete sentence or follow a train of thought. It was a serious show about voteing in the upcoming election. She was just giggling and being cute in her Marlyn Monroe wanna be get up. I suppose it annoyed more than I thought lol, my apologies to the Christina fans... Happy that you like it!

Have a great time trading.
All I can suggest is don't hesitate to PM someone if you like something.
They can but say no (usually just if it is traded or held for an IOU already) , and you are no worse off than before.

Hello everyone, bet you think I fell of the earth somewhere. :p Well, it has been a long month for me with no time to participate in wc. I have been busy decorating my gallery for Christmas open house, setting up a new tea room with the gallery, getting all the framing orders done, and packing for a trip to Colorado at Thanksgiving. We just got home last night. With all that I had no time to send out atc's before we left. So folks. those I owe atc's to, they should be going out Monday to the post office. Got to run, have a family emergency to deal with that we just heard about.

Thank you Avie and Pilan. Once the two people I owe cards to have made their choices, I will put the remaining cards up for trade. I hope you will still be interested by then. Or, I can always make orginal copies if you are really interested. Sometimes, the second attempt looks better, right?

A super typhoon just crossed our archipelago. I hear there's lots of damage on some parts of the country but they were not as bad as originally expected because the major typhoon diverted a little to the north and missed direct hit on the highly populated lowlands. We're only too happy to have survived it without major damage.

Cheers to everyone!

By the way, we were discussing you and New Zealand last night. My daughter and I so love Haley Westenra, and we thoroughly enjoyed her first television special from NZ last night on the PBS channel here in the states. She has the most beautiful, crystal clear voice--and they showed gorgeous photography of your breathtaking country of course! She sang two Maori songs which we love--Hine e Hine and one other. Hi Pilan. I think you get to exchange/swap with Maygoblin. I exchange/swap with Avie and Vanessa will exchange/swap with Weckster.

Debbie, please correct me if I'm wrong.

Joel

I have to say, great work everyone! I really wished I could have all of your portraits. I think I'm getting the most unique work, though. I'm really happy to be getting Avie's portrait in disguise. I just feel sorry for her because she's getting my lousy and unimaginative portrait. I'll make it up to you Avie.

Hi everyone. For a while, I have not been able to make anything larger than an ATC card. That's how addicted I got to this wonderful thread. Yesterday, was browsing the drawing forum and got interestred in doing the weekly thread. Instead of drawing, I made an acrylic painting. It's some sort of a breakthrough because I thought I won't be able to do something a bit bigger (8x11). Just thought of sharing the WIP. I'll finish it later tonight.

As you're all my friend, c&c's welcome.

Cheers!

Helloooo everyone!!! How is everybody doing? My card production has been slowing down these past few weeks because I've been having an ATC block, plus I've been busy  and I just got back from a lovely sunny and cloudy holiday. :D Got dunked into lots of culture in East Malaysia, so hopefully all that inspiration will go into more new cards.

Thanks to all the participants and referee of the mystery portrait swap. It was fun because I tried another approach, unusual for me, with my card. Pilan, yup, I think I'll be trading with you. But first I'll have to chuck more adhesive onto the card because the beads (my hair) are falling out.

I think the earliest I'll be sending all cards will be next week. On my list are BP (Rose and Pierre which I forgot to send the last time. Apologies!!!), Avie and Nathaniel, Pilan and Joel. Two weeks ago I sent out BP's, Pilan's and Meika's cards. If I missed anybody out, please let me know. My log book is about to self destruct.

I'll be going to the gallery now.

By the way Pilan, my username came about when I needed a bogus one desperately for some site entry thing, it just popped into my head. When I discovered WC, I used this name again, not thinking I'd take art too seriously. But I became more involved and just stuck with the name. That's the whole story. :D

But I like your finished piece and the colours you chose...and I figured out the yellow [email protected]*t atc that Maygoblin mentioned also.
Just below the window that you write comments like this in, are icons you can use when posting up your latest work. The red cheeked icon is available there  ...

PS. I also like your zebra [email protected]*t's... just as much as I like the border collie (who was that neat artist)...you know there is a saying, "different strokes for different folks" that I reckon applies here.
No, I am not thinking, "one mans junk is another mans treasure" either.

Hi there, I REALLY don't mean to be a pain but I have a couple of questions (please forgive the ignorant if they have already been asked and answered :o ).

1. What is the difference between this thread and the November ATC thread/project???? Reason asking - when I found out about ATC's, was near start of November and this thread/project was closed, and that their would be a monthly project/thread to accomodate the huge number...but nobody seemed to be watching that thread, and then I couldn't find the December version. Only to confuse me more is that tonight I discover this thread/project is still alive and kicking...PLEASE HELP, I AM SOOOOOO CONFUSED.
I don't mean to get anyone in trouble or off side (I need to trade yet  ), but this is bull**** (sorry for strong language :o )...how on earth are new artist's to ATC meant to find their footing when they are stuffed around like this. I have cards produced, but didn't understand the "reload the untraded ones each month into the new project thing", so I held back from submitting them, waiting for the new project...only to discover their is non!
OK, sorry for getting so heated, but really, where do I post my cards??? Here (that is in this project) or in the other project????

2. How do you go about trading???? (PS. Weckster, if you still want to trade :wink2: :wink2: ...please tell me how to go about this :o :D ).
I maybe blonde and an artist, but I ain't THAT stupid  ...BUT I just cain't find the info...so PLEASE help me...PLEASE  :D .

Thankyou for listening to my ramblings...think I will submit those cards to this project (better join first, huh! :o  :D ).

Hi Stacey! Not sure you'll be forgiven for your questions... you may have a chance if you give your soul to ATCs

There was some turmoil late october, and we now have three ATC projects so far:
- this one
- ATC november
- ATC Animal project: http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/Projects/index.php?cmd=view_details&proj_id=777

You can post entries in either projects (only animals in the animal one, of course) and trading between projects is welcome.

HOW DO WE TRADE?
One party usually sends a PM (Private Message) to the other "Hey I like <title of the card>, would you trade with me?". Then the other party has a look at the available cards (a link is usually provided in the initial PM) and answers "Sure. Is <xxx> available?". If the trade is settled, addresses are exchanged via pm and cards are sent. On arrival of the actual card, it's good to send a little PM to the originator to let him/her know the card arrived.

You can also say in one project thread that your interrest in trading, but it's safer to send a PM.

Thanks for asking.
I send you a PM explaining it all to you.
Please don't make this put you off trading and posting.

(part of PM) "You are welcome to start up your own theme of ATC's. ATC Dec project, ATC flowers, ATC cars etc. It would be great to break galleries up into subjects but I am just an organised personallity and thats my own opinion. :)

All cross trading across all ATC projects are most welcome. I hope this sorts out the delimer that you have."

take care. Looking forward to seeing your cards.

Hi and welcome !
I actually like this one and if you could see how bad my attempts with watercolour were (destroyed), you would not knock yourself so badly. Keep going as I would like to trade with you should you want anything of mine!

Anyway, don't worry about asking qns, boy if you could have seen the dumb ones I was asking...my long suffering friend Godzoned copped most of them.
Godz, Anney and some others have good comments on how this atc project works. So does Morganna - the project leader, in her intro to the thread, which you can view by going to the first page.

We are a friendly bunch here and if you want to feel better about your early pieces, just check out my simple first humble submissions...and people were kind enough to trade!
Just ask them by private message, as I figure nothing ventured nothing gained.
I have some fabulous originals and prints from around the globe and in totally different styles to me.
Hope you get to enjoy this project as much as I do. Vanessa

Well, am under strict instructions to REST & recover from neck and back injuries, and am not very good at sitting still doing nothing. My house is far from wheelchair friendly, and so is my city, so its quite frustrating. Thank goodness for the internet! Should be more mobile again soon, but might do an ATC of my nifty wheels in the meantime.

Had been having a total lack of inspiration, but now I'm so full of ideas, being forced to sit around recuperating seems to be a blessing in disguise, I feel creative again!

(And have learnt how to pop a wheelie in the chair, hee hee) :D

I've been doing a lot of wax resist work too and have enjoyed the way they create abstract backgrounds for ATC's and also backgrounds in my art journal.
