Can someone tell me about vetrafond? Is it soft like moretti? compatible w/ moretti?
I'm surfing eBay wanting to buy more glass and see both types listed.
Thanks...
I'm off to bed... I read answers 1st thing when I get up and do my shopping then.

Sarah,
Vetrofond is compatible with Moretti. In fact, the company was started by some of the former Moretti people, so they use a lot of the same formulas for their colors. I also use it with Lauscha and Czwch glass with no compatibility problems.

Vetrofond has been around awhile and is compatible with Effetre. I used to buy it under the name "Murano" several years ago. I don't know a thing about the new name. I use it just like Effetre, and some colors I don't even seperate from Effetre in my glass stash. Many of the colors are identical to Effetre. If my supplier is out of stock in a Effetre color, I don't hesitate to order a similar color in the Vetrofond/Murano line.

Buy It! I love the vetrofond CLEAR especially...no scummy/burny/nasty Moretti clear here! Melts like butter and stays wonderfully clear for encasing! (the Lausha is supposed to be even better, but I'm on a HH) Oh, and the black in vetrofond is much more "black"; I don't know how to explain it, but you will understand if you get it. The only problem I have had with Vetrofond is the Dark Ivory...it doesn't seem as reactive as the Effetre.

The black Effetre is a dark, dark purple but the black Vetrofond is a dark, dark green. The clear is nicer than the effetre and the blues and greens are gorgeous! I don't hesitate to mix the two types and haven't had any problems so far. Usually the vetrofond is at a better price point too! Try it, you'll like it!

Some of the vetrafond colors are nearly identicle to even the "special Moretti" colors- at about 1/2 the price. An example of this is Odd Vetrofond Transparent Petroleum Green...Very Similar to 223 Mosaic Green In Moretti and Almost 1/2 The Price, it's a Little Lighter in Shade, but Very Close. Runs $13/lb and is a a wonderful substitute. :P I have found many of the standard shades if not identical are actually a bit nicer in many cases.

Ut oh - new complication to my "one time shop" hope.
Is there a chart anywhere that shows the equavilent color Moretti/Vetrofond? Like if you can't get Moretti ###, you can order Vetrofond ### as it is the same color?
Thanks always!

arrow springs carries it, Jo-dell carries it, Bill thorton carries it, Most glass suppliers carry it, you may have to ask the suppliers you already use.
