View Full Version : Something New. Comments?

Im limited with online time as the fall progresses. :( However, something new is brewing. This is the first of a new series for me. I'm calling these focals "River Rocks." They are long, slender boro beads with two highly polished windows. The sides have a matte finish for contrast. They kinda look like agate. Comments appreciated.

GORGEOUS! I really love it! Do you do them in other colors too, or are you sticking with the more natural colors? Both would be great! Well done!

Wow, Those are so beautiful. I love the idea of the matte sides, and then the polished windows. They look so much like agate rock.

Lauri, I really like the focal! The contrast of the matte sides with high-polish windows works very well, especially with your chosen title. Same goes with your choice of colors. I think it will do really well in other shapes too (perhaps fatter bicones?). Thanks for posting!

Just fabulous!!! Amazing really :) I love natural stone, and glass, those are two for one! I would offer a critique but I cant think of anything bad to say, the firey orange color is perfect and the "stone pattern" is very "natural looking". I mean if you said, "Hey look at these stone beads....." I would have been convinced, in fact you better send me one to prove it's glass... ;) j/k

It looks terrible, unbelievably amateurish and dorky. I can't believe that you made this intentionally.

[I'm just trying to keep you from getting a swelled head, neighbor]

If agate is the look you were going for, you definitely achieved it. Love the faceting. YOU DONE GOOD! CC

Love the colors and the effect - stunning! Reminds me of fall leaves on sugar maple trees.

River Rocks really work as a name. The one pictured has a great agate look to it and agates are just to cool.

It took my breath, beautiful and sooooo well crafted, congrats!

Absolutely incredibly beautiful!

Would you mind if I ask how the faceting is done? Do you slice it on a saw, or grind it somehow? I aks because my Mom has told me I can have my Dad's lapidary equipment. It's all about 25-30 years old and I don't really know what I have yet.

Absolutely gorgeous, Lauri! You have the "real" look, allright! Now I think you should try to mimic opals! :D

Very very yumaroo Laurie... and by the way, the expo has been postponed until 2006 because Georges has been ill and does not want to feel hurried... more later...
