Some friends were going out painting this morning and asked me to join them. I was skeptical because the weather was overcast and we were expecting rain...but it wasn't far so I went anyhow. The sun came and went and in the end I needed suntan lotion! The water kept changing, the light kept changing, a fabulous snowy egret came by and I painted him in and took him out! But in the end I was glad I went and had fun painting. And I got photos of the egret.
I was there about 2 hours, painted for about 1 1/2. This is grey art spectrum, 9x12. I might want to fix that curve of the water on the right but otherwise I'll probably leave it. But C&C welcome.

And here is the egret...he kept moving, although I told him not too! :D
I might just have to paint this photo! :D

Well done Sandy - your ambition to go out in all sorts of weather is inspiring.

I love the colors and texture and agree - that water curve may be better if laid down a bit.

Oh - and I agree - paint the photo of the egret. It's a good one.

Thanks Kate and Barb.

I see from looking here that I inadvertently lopped a bitoff the bottom when I scanned it...the lower right down come in and around a bit...but it needs to be more as well as the top. But that's easy to fix.

Yeah..the egret will be fun. I'll add it to my list of "to do's"...

Dang! You get the neatest stuff to paint! Very nice sketch and I LOVE the egret! Do it!

That's why I love it up here! This is 5 minutes from my house. And at "home" I don't get people calling to see if I want to meet them to paint! I am going to have a really tough time going home this fall.
Oh well.

And eventually the egret will find his way onto these pages as a painting! :D

FInally got to do a little more work on this and take a photo. I think I'm done with it but any comments are always helpful for the future!

edit: Wow...the first one was scanned and this is a photo. The difference is amazing...the scanned color is better, I think. THis looks a bit washed out. It was mostly the compostional issues I worked on though...fixing the brook curve and softening the right edge. I think it helped.
