Very pretty and well done. Wondering what colors you used - the colors really harmonise.

I flicked it Mal, where did it go? Seriously it's great. The only change I would make is to darken more of the green background near the flowers... so that the butterfly comes forward. Or was it intended to be looked for? In which case...nevermind...lol http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Hi Sandi!
I see you are outside painting butterflies! http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif

The colors are rich and clean...nice contrast in the butterfly. He really pops out against that bluer background. The flowers could use some more variety of color, some light...some darker...to give more lighting to the subject. That lovely green in the upper left corner would look good trailing thru the center and off to the side.

You know me! love lots of color! and you're really getting into it too!

Wonderful painting, Sandy. I think the composition is terrific, the colors are a great blend. The only critique I have is the green in the upper left. Maybe more of that should be in other areas of the composition. As it is, being only in that one area, I find myself being pulled back to it and away from the rest of the painting.

I'm not certain why, but it reminds me of the way I feel when a storm is near. The wide-eyed wonder way not the foreboding sort. You know, when there are dark rainclouds coming overhead and yet still sunshine lighting most of what you see. I guess it is the delightful way that the light is reflecting off the front edge of the butterfly yet the rich assortment of muted tones beneath resonate with the feeling of dark clouds. I love the way it makes me feel.
