View Full Version : ugh...Monday... August 9 Show and Tell... beads to brighten the day!

08-09-2004, 03:19 AM
Hi everyone... Surprised one of these hasn't been started today, so I'm jumping in...

Spent lots of time this evening working on my website... added a daily blog and a Q & A section for my "tips and tricks" page. Email me with tech questions if you have them- I want to post more!

Here's two beads (within last 2 weeks...haven't photo'd really recent stuff):

The first is a fritter, soft glass... "Meteorologicals" style... lotsa frit...thick encasing...not much more to say there.

The second is boro, all amber purple that I didn't purple-ify too much, though more show up in real life than they do in the pic. It's faceted front and back.

I'm waiting on the kiln to shut off. (buy digital and still remain paranoid that it must be off before I go to sleep..or is it just insomnia? )

GORGEOUS as always, Margaret! I am a huge fan of your work!

Love the vessel, Rita!

Margaret, wonderful beads! The green is so rich and they glow from the picture, I can imagine what they would look like reflecting in the sun.

Rita, Just a beautiful, beautiful vessal. And I love the romantic look of the 2nd bead too. You have such a wonderful way of making your beads look soft and feminine.

I'm celebrating 6 months of lampworking.

I've been looking for "tools" for awhile, and finally noticed some farberware ice tongs at Walmart and decided to try and use them this weekend. A very budget wise slant of squeeze beads - the tongs were a couple bucks. And Corina's not kidding, even these feel great to wear.

The 2nd is black and red set. I'm thrilled to say my dot beads are so much better from everyone's help.. too bad you can't see it in this picture. Is black and red (dark red) a little more difficut to photograph? I'm so frustrated with taking pictures.. I'll keep trying.

Have a great day!

Margret - gorgeous beads both of them, my favourite is the amber purple one, its just looks like you caught flames in the glass.

Rita - Gorgeous beads, my favourite if the second one with the florals, your painted on florals like that make me drool. When are you planning to come teach in Holland?

Faith - all the sets are pretty in their own right, but the taupe one and the silvered reefs are my favourites!

Steph - Well both of your sets looked pretty as is, but I went and played with the colours for you. Hope you don't mind. I owe Lori Greenberg the honour of helping me figure a few things out with my Photoshop.
So here you go, your pics reworked to enhance the beautiful colours you have.

But here are my beads from my 'Starry Night' of work last night.
First I have some test bead with some new colours that we just got in here. Left one is called Porceline, the second is a very light transparent green, and the third and fourth are some kind of rose coloured brown. It is the same rod, one is left as is and the other I struck to get the colour back into it.

Next I have three white and aqua stars(ranging from 20 - 22mm), then a white and champagne star (20mm) (also new colour), and a white and med amethyst star (30mm).

Finally the start of a star set, with my tiniest ever stars(16mm) for earrings. White, aqua and med amethyst (big one 27mm).

Now lets see more goodies!

Hugs from Holland,

Margaret-Great beads, the second ones colors, there amazing
Rita- Wow! I always love looking at your beads. Beautiful work.
Faith- Cute sets, I especially like the Silver Amethyst Reefs color.
Steph-Nice bracelets, the silver really sets the beads off
Sarah-your stars are great, nice color combos too!

I have some beads I made for a bracelet, necklace and earrings
It's made with a copper green base, brown coated with amber stringer, clear red stringer over orange, dk amber over white, and some green.

Kelly, your copper green lentils are so pretty.
Sarah, love your stars. They are perfect. Bet the small ones are darling in person.
Margaret, I have always enjoyed your beads. Rita and your pic taking skills are awesome. what do you use to hold your beads up like that? rubber cement?
Rita, I like the focal the best, but, I'm liking that vessel a whole lot too.
Steph, Congratulations on your 6 months. You are making some beautiful beads.
Briatha, Love those smalls.

I have been working alot with the pastels/opaque colors and alot of etching lately. I want to etch these, but my family says not to. What do you all think? Anyway, these are from this weekend. dk red, black, yellow, white and orange.

Beautiful beads to start the day!

I'm never sure what order the pics will be uploaded, so hopefully you can match the description to the beads ;)

Been having fun with opal yellow again. One set is a striking red transparent with various designs in opal yellow and vice versa. The red is a yummy bright cherry red. Oh la la!

Then a small set of sqaure beads in amber rose and opal yellow. I was able to get the yellow to color shift much better in this set. Bead gods must have been with me!

Finally a charm bracelet using some lavender and pink/rubino beads I had made. I'm getting hooked on making these bracelets--they are so much fun!

Very nice stuff (that's a Southern word for cherished items) ya'll.

I've only been on WC a short while, but I look forward to seeing your creations.

Last nights beads are in the ultrasonic cleaner, so I thought I'd post pics of two sets my jewelry (bracelet, pendant and earrings, which are my mis-matched signature style).
