American Artist Magazine is publishing a feature article on my painting!

Wonderfully, American Artist is publishing a feature article on my portrait painting for the January 2002 issue. Written by Linda Price, this article outlines two of my painting techniques. The methods I use in portraiture are the same that I use in figure or any other painting. Several recent paintings will be shown; and I just placed these, and more, on-line. I am very grateful to the staff of American Artist -- and especially to Senior Editor Lynne Moss who approached me about doing this article -- for this endorsement of my work.

The following paintings (and one drawing) may appear in the article:

This was the painting that I had on view in the SWA show last month:

This is a painting I finished last month:

A detail of the same painting:

This is a portrait that I finished last year:

Four details of the same painting:

This is a portrait of a little girl:

A detail of the same painting:

This is a black and white chalk on blue paper drawing that was also used
in a new packaging design for General Pencil Company:

Rebecca, I left you a "Congratulations" post early today and it seems to have disappeared. Anyway, it's no surprise to see an article on you coming up. You are very talented. Be sure to give us a reminder as it gets closer. Renee http://www.LongIslandFineArt.com

Oh! I think you might have written to one of my other [matching] posts in another forum, which is why you don't see it here. Anyway, thanks for the congrats and I will definitely let you all know when it's out on the stands -- should be early December.

Hey, Great!!!! I didn't know! I saw the layout for the article. They're printing eight paintings. They didn't include any close-up views, so I might add a few more to my site to explain a couple of the descriptions that are in the text. Thanks for letting me know, Cheryl!

Thanks for sharing all of this with us Rebecca..We have a handfull of professional artists here who are very generous and helpful with their posts and you are one of them. To often in the real world, the professional artist just dosen't have time to interact with the amateur outside of a paid classroom setting. Many thanks. :D

Thanks, Mario. I'm glad it looks that way to you. I do get awfully busy with my projects, so I don't jump into any threads midstream, unless someone specifically mentions my name -- once or twice a week I use the wetcanvas! search engine to find new occurances of my name. When someone does call my name, I do my best to make a reply. :)

Rebecca!! We have a new forum as of today. It's a subforum under the Art Business forum. It's the 'Members Proffessional News' forum. This would be a great place for you to post an announcement of your upcomming article! Anyone else who has an upcomming show/exhibit or other art related event should check it out too! The details are outlined in the site discussion forum but here's the link for the new forum : http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=32&daysprune=
:D cool huh?
