Hello,
I’m relatively new to WC and this is the first that I have posted to this forum. I usually stick to the Portraiture and drawing forums, but have visited here regularly. I really like a lot of the art work here. I drew this several months ago. It’s an angel that’s a little different than the norm I have usually seen. I’ve always liked the image of angels, but had never drawn one until this. I thought that I might try some more in the future…………… It's pencil on 2 ply bristol board and measures 19"x24". Thanks for looking and any comments. :)

This is very strong, both spiritually and artistically. It also meets one of my personal criteria for believable angels--male!! Excellent. Thanks for sharing it.

I am a bit awestruck. I am sincerely touched with his heartfelt expression of sadness, raised wings (in fearful curious disgust?), open hands that seem to reach and block at the same time.
He is beautiful...what I would imagine angels feel for us in this "day and age". (Lord, I've become my mother)
very well done.

Hi Roger,
I love your angel interpretation. It speaks to my heart. Thanks for posting it.
This is beautiful and truly "inspirational"
So glad I found it on a surf.

I only recently found this Inspirational category, and am so glad I did. Roger, your drawing is superb! It has that extra illusive "something" that touches the heart, the emotions. Thank you for sharing Angel.
May I ask you a question? Did you use a live model? And what gave you the inspiration for the wonderful "tribal" look of the costuming. I just love it all.
Thank you!
Loretta

Thanks all for your comments,
Loretta......I drew the angel from a few refference photos that I came across.
The drawing sort of developed as I went along.... and I added things to it. I sort of had an Idea for an angel that was out of the ordinary, but since I have never seen an angel before, I didn't know what the visual definition for an "ordinary" angel was, so how could I draw one that was out of the ordinay. I think that (I) many times see things or imagine them in a certain cultural frame of mind..when things like these have no cultural boundries...... they just are what they are, if you have faith in them, ( and I do very much so)......... or at least thats what I had in my thought process while drawing it. I decided to create a drawing of an angel that would be for me, a challenge to any preconceptions I had. :cat: :cat:

Thank you for the insight to your process on this picture. I love that you approached it in a spontaneous way. I tend to be too prone to want it all figured out ahead of time. I look forward to other drawings you post.
:)
Thanks,
Loretta
