OK, get out your pavs and lamingtons, munch a few prawns orf the bar-b... hey even gulp some 4X if that's ya style... I thought it might be fun to have an EXCLUSIVEly AUSSIE THREAD to showcase our national identity.... and yummy scrummy beads....

Not that mine are spectacular spectacular ;) but I enjoy making beads....

The green squeezed-bead buttless ones are silver grunge copper green and handmade colours.... the browns remind me of nasturtiums, using a cane I made months ago but wasn't inspired to use... these use silvered opal yellow and it created some nifty blue tones here and there... can u tell I lurve the bead squeeze?

So c'mon Aussies, c'mon... strut ya booty ;) :p

Hi Donni and Vikki. Love your beads Donni, I'm quite partial to the copper green ones too. I just received my new giant focal zoozii presses, I say giant because wow they are a lot bigger than I envisaged.
It's not barbie weather down south here, I've got 4 layers of clothes on at the moment, it's sooo cold. Well here we go a pillow focal made from Spectrum Waterglass and a diamond focal made from Moretti (very rare for me).

Thanks Vik, luv <g>

Lorrainne - THUD!!!! That floral is absolutely AWESOME to the MAX!!!!! Your florals... swoon.... and add to the fact you use Spectrum strips, adds to it as I found anything non-round a real challenge to use! It is like you have popped some floral pill because since this burst, they have just been totally mega awesome.... like you have found a special unique Lorraine spot that is yours. Signature Lorraine. As well as your plunged bubbles... love those too. :)

I wanted to say, if Ray or Emily or Ralph or anyone Kiwi - please post too!!!!!

Wow Wow Wow! I want the ebay like for that set too!

Donni
07-17-2004, 06:43 PM
Thanks for kind words y'all, little vegemites ;)

I fixed my link tho the silver grunge beads won't be on for quite a few days cos I batch anneal and list after annealing.... (got a tabletop kiln in the works....) and I might end up keeping them, but then I might make myself some more. They actually look a lot better in person so surprised they are preferred! I thought the other ones were the bees knees LOL

Jan - I didn't know you faceted beads too! That looks awesome! I did have my partner slice the front and back off a bead which was fun, but the sanding afterwards wasn't! That looks so precious!

C'mon Aussies.... Marie-Claude, Michelle, Natalie, Natalia, Nancy, Barbara, Loretta, Sue I know y'all out there! (And a few that names slip my first ting in the morning brain!)

Hi Donni,

HOW can you be so energetic so early on Sunday morning!! It's freezing and gloomy here at Sydney and I'll be happy to stay in bed all day!

Anyhow, lost my camera access so before I get a new one here's something old made with Bullseye glass.

Donni - I'll have to let you in on my little secret, I can't use round rods, drop them all the time!
Jan - Love your beads, faceted looks lovely but oh to have that amount of patience.
Steffi - the colours I used in my floral - for the flowers are spectrum waterglass dark violet and waterglass pale violet. The base is in Spectrum 96 black and 96 dark green, all glass used is 96c.o.e.
Nancy - Love the hand print! It's cold and wet here in South Australia too, if that's any consolation.

GORGEOUS beads folks!! Nice to see all the talent from down under giving the Yanks a run for their money! :D ;) :D ;)

I haven't really got anything much to share at the moment Donni.. in between working on a big lampwork jewellery order I have going, and running my hubby from specialist to doctor to hospital and back to specialist with a mystery illness he's had for 2 months, I just haven't found the time to make anything really interesting. The only thing I have to share at the moment is my (only) eBay auction.. 'Mojo'. Hopefully once I get myself better organised I might be able to offer more for S&T!

Cheers,
Sue :cat:

Actually, at the moment we are spread out a few beadmakers per capital city! - but growing fast!!!

I finally bought my new digital SLR yesterday, so i should have some pics to ad soon.

thats ok I should have identified myself earlier. Nancy I have been doing these for about 20 years and the best advice I can give is take it slowly and don't use too much heat.

Jan, I am loving that new series! I havent done any fuming myself,(and i think I'd be worried about the fumes etc) but boy they look amazing. And so different from your other stuff.

Bernard, those Murrini beads are great, not just because the mosaic affect looks cool, but especially because of the sharp, crisp, shapes - great rectangles - I'd be interested to know how you keep the corners so crisp and square.

Hi, I was wondering if any of you know Judy Hancock from Adelaide? I went to Australia and taught beadmaking with Judy in 1995 and have lost touch with her. I would appreciate any help in contacting her.

Thanks,
Andrea
