I've posted in the abstract contemporary forum in the past, but I don't think it's a good fit.

I thought that the establishment of this forum was a mistake, and I still do. The site becomes larger and more fragmented with everyone looking for a home.
I paint realistically, I take my technical cues from the Masters, but my subject matter is contemporary. So here I am. The art world is chaotic and fragmented, there are no more rules and one is left to find a niche.
One is also left to set one's own standards for no one but oneself.
That's not an easy place to be.

Here are 5 recent pieces, all have been posted in the abstract contemporary forum within the last 8 weeks.

Large paintings are o/c and small work is oil on board.
1.Contrivance 1, "Trouble in Paradise" 48"x60"
2.Contrivance 2, "The Internet" 30x40"
3. Contrivance 3, "Me and My Shadow" 8x10"
4. "The Gates of Hell" 8x10" (based on a sculpture by Medgyess)
5. "It's Cooler than the Gates of Hell" (also inspired by same sculptor)8x10"

Hi San. Your work is contemporary and I think it fits nicely in A&C, I remember the first two pieces from your posts there. I like your technique very much.

I think its interesting that you call this forum a mistake. You make note of everyone trying find a home. I dont understand how you might not recognize...someone might want to call this forum, home. I post more artwork in A&C than I do in Classical but I dont think either forum is a mistake.

Just looking for a unified field, Vince. I think this forum was created because members don't have the stomach for diverse views. No need to worry. I will not post in this forum again. It's pretty stuffy in here.

Hi San. No worries :) Im glad you decided to post here.

If your looking for a unified field, with all due respect, try introducing yourself with a nice handshake instead of a negative comment about the group you are trying to befriend.

Your comment:

I think this forum was created because members don't have the stomach for diverse views.

I think people who would object to the creation of this forum dont have the stomach for diverse views themselves... I have never quite understood that kind of narrow-minded opposition to this forum.

You should always feel free to post here, there's always enough room for everyone. In fact, a wip on your technique would do this forum good.

I like your work San. It is a pity you don't want to hang around.
(i don't really understand why - but if that's your choice....)

the reason I visit here, is simply so i can see work such as yours. - work that is inspiring & from which i can often learn something.
some of us do not have time to search for work such as this on the other forums.

i hope you change your mind. :)

This isn't the only forum where members may not have the stomach for diverse views...I think that's a problem most people (and thus most artists, regardless of their choice of 'forums') have...alas.

I have never quite understood that kind of narrow-minded opposition to this forum.

Vince, thanks!

You've just proved, quite nicely in fact, what I've said many times. The accusation 'narrow-minded' is basically meaningless, since all the sides in any disagreement can (and with validity) point out that their opponents are 'narrow-minded'.
