Does a gondola on a Venice canal qualify as a Marine painting? 24" x 32", oil on MDF panel. Any comments are appreciated. jim

Hi Woodguy,
Welcome to the Marine Art Forum.
Those canals are salt water, so it qualifies (even if it's fresh who cares as long as it has some sort of water)!
Very nice work, the light falling on the buildings is very well done and those rich colours on the buildings are wonderful. Good job on the water, the whole piece is really very good.

Mornin' Woodguy

As Marty said, anything to do with water is welcome here...even fish portraits are marine art, after all :)

This piece is very well done. The mainly subdued colors give it a nice calming feel. Great work on the sunlit buildings.

I wonder if everyone in Venice can swim...

Gorgeous colours in the building, luscious...and wonderfully blended sky too..
I find the right corner a little dark..could be my monitor..
I gotta do a Venice scene...

another gem
love the play between shadow and light
very moody
think the windows on the sunny side could do with
refecting the sun, they look like black holes......
great overall tone!!

woodguy, your work is always a pleasure. The light, as said, is fantastic, but I also like the view perspective, and the sky is so subtly masterful. This painting seems timeless.
