MY COMMENTS:
Please give a critique on any element you think could help me make the next piece even better. I am a self taught watercolor painter. I literally just went out bought the paints and started painting with no instruction. This one was about 6-7 years into my painting.

MY QUESTIONS FOR THE GROUP:
My choice of fading the backround has sometimes been questioned by people seeing it. I often do no backround on the cars I paint. I have never done the backround to the detail level I do the car. SHould I continue in this direction? I am attaching a couple others with different levels of backround to compare.
Thanks,
Richard

Superb work, Richard. I find the background to the Bugatti (is it?) distracting. The Delahaye seems very much commercial, the sort of illustration used in the period I expect the car was manufactered, to me. I'm happy with that. The sketched tiles for the lower painting seem quite acceptable to me. I want to see the car. If you had a detailed environment for the car, then you will likely produce another statement altogether. I'm looking forward to see more of your work, and a welcome to WC for you.

Wow! Check out the reflections on that top one! You do amazing things with watercolors!!! I personally like the less detailed backgrounds. It makes the cars really pop as the focal point. These are just beautiful!!!
