Hi all, this is my first foray into digital painting in quite a while. Wanted to try and capture the mood of the night skies as I saw it on the way home tonight.

I agree with kptad2, very nicely done, I have seen nights like that here in Canada too.

I wish it looked like that here. Too many lights.
I think it might be my monitor, but I wish I could see the lighting on your trees better. Nice painting!

Nicely done.
The simplicity really drives home the feeling of night. The difference between the skyline and trees seems almost perfect to me.

Thanks for the feedback folks. This was done as a study for a larger painting I'll do in the near future. My studio was too cold, so I took to my 'puter to put down my ideas. Lisa in regards to the contrast I think it may have posted a bit darker than I'd expected. As I said in my first post this is the first digital work I've done in a long time. a bit more practice should iron out the kinks.

it's very dark on my monitor, as well. it would be fun to dance some of the reflected moonlight across the tops of the trees...you could bring out a lot of detail without infusing too much light that way.
love the moon! great job with the texture on that. it's luminous.
