There were some great photos to select from. I loved the boats, I was having trouble getting the gunwale right on the green boat so finally decided to forget that one and cropped the drawing down to one boat with just a bit of the second one, then I started to paint. It's watercolor, 5 x 9.

I really like the colours you used in this - especially like how you have included the green boat in the picture.

I like the crop- it puts a whole new emphasis in the scene. And I know what you mean about drawing the boats lol- that perspective! This is a lovely watercolor.

You did a great job on the boat perspective and I LOVE the color blue behind the white boat...was a great idea doing the crop too :)

Great job, Helen!

The cropping works well. The edge of the green boat leads your eye into the scene. And I like the stripes and bold color. Nice composition!

Helen - you did a great job on the white boat and the blue behind really pops it - good thoughts on that crop too. Very nice!

You obviously know more about boats than I do. These both look very convincing and bright and cheerful. And the steps look better than mine, too. I try too hard sometimes to follow the reference, a little common sense works better.

Hi, Helen. This painting is unique because of your crop. good composition and color. The boats are very solid in form.

Hi Helen,

Great painting!

This image was really popular wasn't it?

I love your composition - the crop works well doesn't it? I like the way you have introduced some of the oranges from the white boat into the steps & a hint of reflections between the two boats.

It's amazing what a different crop can do. I love how this came out. It draws your eye right to the red boat.
