oil pastel on sketch pad 8.5 x 5.5" 2 hours

sky's a touch muddier than I liked but not too bad considering the rush job! Husband coming in the door...will check everyone else's out in a few minutes! Was fun, thanks for some great choices, but this one was a no brainer...just gorgeous!

OOooo, purrrty colors! It looks so soft- how did you get that effect?

Thanks everyone! Wendy...I usually use a finger tip to lightly blend or else I scumble over with a light gray. Sometimes I just dab with a paper towel to soften it.

Hi Sue! I like your lighthouse! nice detail in that and you didn't chicken out on the mystery stuff on the dock like I did. I futzed with the sky to try and get that pink cloud, but it never got there. You did a good job on that, the horizon - isn't this a landscape?? :D

thanks Trish...whatchaneedtheyellowfor??? :D

Kat...gotta go find yours, funny we both picked the same one! Ha...learned one thing...mystery stuff best remain mystery...teehee

This was a popular image this week. You all got that sky so well, even if each is different. I would love to have tackled it, but so far can't manage watercolor well enough, just get mud when trying to schmear colors like this.

Dyin, beautiful job as usual. Lovely restful scene and you have done extremely well with it. I can just imagine sitting there and drinking in all that beauty. Well done. Particularly love the sparkles that you have achieved on your water.

Very exacting work on the details of the lighthouse, Sue. I love that pink cloud and how the water carries the purple of the bottom of the cloud. Creates great color harmony.

Thanks Kathy, Connie, Judy and Deano...appreciate all the kind words :)

What a great job on the lighthouse !!! Love the graduated colours that give it the angles and depth. The sky is foreboding and threatening while the shore seems unaware and unconcerned, and great handling of the cloud and reflections in the water. Very nice

Beautiful, peaceful painting of the lighthouse, Sue.

I love all the colours blending into each other in the sky & the purple going down to the horizon & reflected in the sea.

Just enough detail in the lighthouse too.

I am really enjoying being host & seeing how you all use the images. :D

It looks so soft and still a storm is coming up. Or the silence before the storm.
Very good work, I love it!
