How do you start the ink flow for a Rotring Rapidoliner pen?
Today I bought a Rotring Rapidoliner .18 (disposable cartridge) and a .18 refill. I've never used these Rotring pens before, and I just felt like experimenting.
When I put the point to paper in my sketchbook, nothing happened. I shook the pen, and it gave the sound of what is apparently an agitator inside the cartridge. Still nothing.
Thinking I might have gotten a defective cartridge, I swapped it out for the refill. Still nothing, even after shaking. I even tried the Koh-I-Noor trick of tapping the top of the pen on a surface.
What am I missing here? Is there any way that I can get the ink flow going by some capillary action by dipping the point in water? I guess I'll try that next. But I'll certainly appreciate any education from any of you on the board.
