View Full Version : WDE Very late entry June 5 Tomatoes

Hi gang,

I just had to do the tomatoes to go with my cherries! I didn't scan at the 2 hour mark, sorry, but I was going with the flow and forgot.

This took about 5 hours w/c and acrylics(just for the background that didn't turn out as I would have liked) on Arches 9X12

I bow to you, oh Mistress of shadow and light, colour and composition ! I like the 'repair' job on the left front tomato- doesn't look like, ummm, you remember  :o :D A treat for the eyes in all ways !

Thankyou Maureen, Dragonlady, Lisilk, Deano and Lauren! I enjoyed this one!

Lauren...I thought that 'spot' was a bit distracting, no matter how lifelike it was....so I used a bit of artistic lisence there. ;) :D

Thanks again, I appreciate it!

Came back to look again!
Wanted to say how much I REALLY LIKE the blue back/gd and shadow of the nest of white paper - WHY OH WHY didn't I think of that!!!!!!!!!!
I just LOVE this painting (and many of your others)! :)
(Tried to edit for a green smiley but wouldn'y accept it, so think green and envy)!!!!!!

A good painter can turn any ordinary object into great art, and you've proven that here. Your tomatoes are luminous! Even the paper towels are full of texture and life. Simply amazing work. And fast, too!

Noma and Andrew...I don't know how I missed your comments...it sure wasn't intentional.

Thankyou both so much for the lovely comments. Andrew, I remember your beautiful tomatoes with the feather white around them....mush? I don't think so!
