View Full Version : Today's new venture - my first knife painting
09-26-2001, 10:06 AM
16" x 12", Acrylic.
No preliminary sketch or drawing, nothing but my knife and paint touched the canvas. Next time I might do a quick sketch, because I think I got a bit too fussy with the face while trying to put everything in the right place. :)
Nice to try something completely new!

no need to draw at all
this is way past drawing
and you know that!
Geesh Helen I gave up on the acrylics LOL You succeeded in the oils and now using the knife. The only way a painting is going under a knife at my hand would be to scrape off paint LOL I've tried it before
Love it *S* Gee and even smoke *S* I'm so impressed *S* Could you try some smokerings next *S* HEE HEE

A real step forward.
(if it is, watch out for Prussian Blue. It falls off and goes brownish)

Totally zoned in this one, girl! Fantastic!
I understand what you mean about spending your energy placing features... Have you ever used the dot system? Just a few placed strategically can reduce the stress and help the brush or knife fly...
This is divine as is...

Wow! Where do I start after all that praise!! I am truly humbled! It's so encouraging when you try something completely new and people actually like it! :)
Jerry - You sound like you're slapping my wrist, so I was too scared to draw when I started my next one yesterday. :D You are good for me. :)
Anthony - The little clapping guy from you is the ultimate compliment - I'm still grinning with pride. :D (Not Prussian Blue, thank goodness, but Ultramarine and Phthalo Green. Thanx for the warning!)
Jeanine - Hey, thanx for the dot idea! That might work for me - will try it! (If it's dotty, it should suit me fine.) :D
Impulse - Now, why didn't you just ask for another hug if that's what you wanted?! *hug* Really, thanx! :)
And last, but by no means least,
Everyone Else - Thank you all so very much for the praise and smiles that you gave me!!
