Well...It is official...I am on an eye kick. I did this in painter classic, starting with the pupil and working outward. Sizing it for WC! really makes it look BAD.
So I am putting up a few detail shots. The whole HUGE peice is at My PBase, just CLICK HERE TO SEE IT. (http://www.pbase.com/image/30212674)

Sweeeeet - I like the eye series so far. Really nice work on the iris, and I think the strokes you picked for the "whites" is perfect. I'm not sure I like the top lid's color, though, or the strokes. Somehow it doesn't gell with the bottom lid. Anyway cool stuff.

:) So big eye! When I was studying old masters, I noticed how eyes on their paintings reflect light, You add little more light to lover part of iris, and upper part has little shadow. It magically makes iris look so natural and 3 dimensional. Dark centre should stay totally dark, it can't reflect light back. Sometimes I use this simple trick, and eyes get so "eyes" immediately (atleast I think so).

Aye, ya do have an eye thing happening! I can't really comment on technique or anything, as I am not a painter. However, I love the close ups that show your strokes. It just amazes me!

You are welcome, not that eyes without this are not eyes. It all depends on style, I just thought I would share.

Red! I like this very much. Of course, I am partial to eyes. I spent YEARS drawing and painting eyes. That is my favorite thing to paint. I think this one you ahve done is excellent. I love the way the strokes fan out to make it so real looking. It really gives the eye depth.
I vote for a series of "eyes." People, lobsters, mammals, and even a hurricane. How bout it?
