View Full Version : WDE 061204 Speeding it up.

I've had some problems with biting off more than I have time to chew with these WDEs. I thought quick sketches might be a way around this. When you refered to this as the slowest WDE I thought it a good idea to use the quick sketch idea to help speed it up.
So here are 2 hours worth of sketches. The mine and the cabin were 40 minutes or more apiece, Kaleigh and the car about 20 minutes each.
Went back to my favorite pen for these. A Sheaffer Caligraphy Classic fountain pen.

I can see why this pen is your 'good buddy' !! :) Fast, fresh and unaffected- great sketches that capture the moment. The mine scene was really complex geometrically-fine job indeed ! Like the others very much also, especially the car.

No kidding ! These are all so loose but fantastically executed. The perpective and weight of lines in the mine, gesture of the car and Kaleigh...just the right amount of information. The cabin is excellent, those shadows were so strong against the angles of the logs.

I'll upload slower than a snail again if it helps inspire these wonderful sketches ! LOL.

Great sketches. I particularly like the last one of the log-hole-cabin thingy. It looks effortlessly 3-D.

That's a great idea! Sketching rather than painting when time is short - I'll keep that in mind for when I'm running in here late - :D

I love the sketch of the car - it looks effortless!

All your sketches are fabulous! I couldn't do that in 2 hours: would have to allow extra time for grumbling and whining!

The more I paint, the more I appreciate how much a good sketch helps. These have the essence, no waste lines, but express the subject so well.
