A Tarnished Icon - The Atomium, Brussels, once an icon of the new Europe, is becoming tarnished with age. But is'nt that the way with all our icons....?

I wanted to highlight the tarnished look of the spheres, so I used the following settings in Photoshop:

Three layers:

Top Layer - cut out of the un-filtered spheres.
Middle Layer - Grayscale Image - Blending: Colour Dodge Opacity: 100%
Bottom Layer - Colour Image with motion blur - Blending: Normal Opacity: 87%

Presented on a white background with drop shadow.

Thanks for looking

Paul

Need picture :(

I will say this though...the white box with an "X" through it needs to be revamped :D

Paul,
First..Welcome to the Asylum...you will have a blast here.

The image uploader is a tricky thing at first. Images can not be bigger than 600 pixel high, and 500 pixels wide. The maximum file size can't be more than 150KB. Keeping it to around 130 solves all problems there. If you still have any problems you can PM me and tell me where you are getting stuck at and I will try to help you out.

It really is easy once you get the hang of it! The first few are just a pain :D

Oh, I don't think the white box with the red X is all bad , perhaps some shadowing would be nice behind the X.

As far as the spheres, I like 'em!
