View Full Version : I need help with this!
Hi everyone! This is my first attempt at doing colored pencil work on my own. I would like to use this holly for my Christmas cards this year. I did the background in a watercolor wash and scanned it but it is very light. The colors I used are cad yellow with a little violet. I also dropped in a little gold metallic watercolor. I need to know what colors to place around the holly? I'm not to good at choosing colors yet even though I have just about worn out my color wheel! This is on 140lb. cold press Arches watercolor paper. I do like the texture it gave to the colored pencil. Let me know what you all think.

The Holly looks good Shay :)
You can use any complimentry colour to red and green, just keep playing :) Or for greeting cards, leave it white. :)

For holiday, I would do some combo of either gold or silver in the background...are you going to do any writing on this part of the card???
The holly looks great!
Thanks Ivyleaf and TeAnne! I put the watercolor background around it already so i might go back in and drop a little more intense color in. I just want to make it look a little more "Christmasy". I just don't know which colors to use. I did drop in some metallic gold watercolor which is WAY COOL! so maybe I'll just add more of that???
