Hi Ruth, welcome to WDE it is a fun event and each time you learn more just by doing and doing quickly.

I love your horse, looks like a horse to me, has the sparkle in his eye, you have gotten texture on his mane, very well done.

Just started using graphite? I guess I figure everyone uses it to make sketches before painting, etc. Anyway, WOW, your horse is an excellent drawing in graphite!

Thank you Zoe, xreader, Judy and Kathy for viewing and your encouraging feedback.

I liked doing a horse because I can just about remember the feel and smell etc and like to use as many senses as possible.

Kathy - I think it is about the fourth picture I have attempted in graphite. I don't like to use graphite much when painting I often only put a horizon line.

The post is a little light and hard to see any detail, but I can tell that you have good shading, and form in this. Good work.

A beautiful drawing, especially for a relative new graphite artist....... the horse is nicely drawn, in good proportion....... don't be afraid to use dark and medium tones to bring out depth in your drawings........ I hope to see more of your pieces in the future.......

PJ, Jaytee, Celia, Mary, JJ and Cathie thank you very much for viewing and your comments.

Celia - yes I think I may add more dark and medium tones, but the 2 hours seemed to rush by and this is where I had got to at the end.

I love your horse, Ruth. I love using graphite too...it's lots of fun...it's just getting the time to do it between the watercolours...so much to do. :)

Congratulations on a very accurate drawing. All the features are right on. The textures and shading are great. As previously mentioned, once you add some darker values, it will really have power.

Thank you Deano and Lee for viewing and your comments.

I have managed to do a little more today, but I am not sure how to handle the mane.

Welcome to your first WDE !! (Beware- you are likely to become as addicted as the rest of us who hang out here ! It's the absolute bestest thing happen'in)
A very fine graphite rendering indeed !! I can tell your hands have stroked a muzzle and your mind recalls the velvety contours ! I also like his kind eye and the lovely graceful arch you've put on his neck . Well done !

Thanks for coming, Ruth. :) This is a very nice drawing. I thought the first version was good as it was, but I really like the refinements you made in the second version. You've done especially well at handling the nostril and eye. Good job! Hope to see you here again!
