View Full Version : Wde 6-5 First Floral-pastel
What a challenge I picked. I really admire those of you who do florals. This is 24 X 18, pastel on Wallis paper. About 21/2 hours, sorry I got carried away and didn't post at 2 hours. Anyway, I know there are areas I have to redraw and find the petals again, and areas to be lightened and darkened. I'll repost when I have a chance to work some more on it.
It's hard to believe this is your first floral. It came out beautifully. Not only did you capture the rose but I love how you have the leaves there but definately in background except for the edge of one catching the sunlight. Great job.

Wow. A real stunner. The rose is exquisite, and the foliage is perfect, especially the way you've used it to indicate depth. I hope you do more florals in the future, because you're good at it! Looking forward to seeing the finish on this one!

Everything is beautiful about your floral. Nice light, form, and great background. I do florals and yes, they can be quite frustrating. Yours turned out wonderful.

Brave soul, your first floral - and you post it! :D (Mine is hiding in the garage - too heavy handed with the color!)
This is terrfic! I'll check back - looking forward to the finished one!
Thank you all for your nice comments. This isn't my first pastel, just the first floral I've done. I can hardly wait to get back to work on it, hopefully Sunday after church.

Wonderful rose, love the way it materializes out of the loose background. It's a keeper.

That's a large piece of paper to cover in just 2 1/2 hours, not to mention the technically suberb work...be sure to post it in its own thread in the pastel forum when your finished so everyone can see!

The rose and tomatoes seem to be the favorites today.
This is really lovely....to my untrained (in pastels) eye I don't know what you could do to make it any better than it is. I love the soft wonderful colors you have in it. Very nice work!

This is lovely. I like the way you have used blue in both the flower and the background to tie it all together.
