Hi Bobbo,
Wonderful to see you here at last. These are terrific plein airs, the spontaneity and sense of get it down quick are there, they have an urgent, excited look to them. Your use of colour is very good and reminiscent of your car works, lots of movement and atmosphere. Great to see them, post here as often as you can, we'll look forward to them.

Hi Bobbo
I love the colour and action, life and vivaciousness shown in your paintings. I spent many holidays and long weekends in Cornwall as my husband was a wartime evacuee down there and loved returning. Our visits were mainly in the late50's and 60's, and we covered the whole area on a motorbike. What amazed me was the number of peoplein your pics, were there REALLY that many???
We saw more than we see our our local beaches here, but I've never seen crowds like that. Was it Newquay or St.ives area? This is just my inquisitivness. I can't imagine Cornwall being crowded.
Your paintings are delightful
Jane.

hi Gillette

you are right, when i posted this in the plein air forum a little while ago
i mentioned that i added about 50% of the people;i had so much fun painting them,i didn't stop, besides they kept moving around :D
but it was the summer holidays and it was to busy for me!
it is the Newquay area, sooo beautifull, especially the color of the water
thanks for looking.

ohhh... I love these! so full of life and light. I'm particularly drawn the the middle pic in the first set - I love the way you've rendered the bathers, and the one leaping adds a shot of adrenaline into the piece.

I'm also loving the last one posted too. the coloration is evocative and it has such a beautiful, laid back quality that is perfect.

i'm glad the fun feeling of painting plein air came across......
i like to concentrate on light and mood instead of details
the bathers were an exception
i painted the scene in one sitting and came back the next day to put the people in.......luckely the weather was the same!! :)

I love all these Rob, I kept going back and forth, I liked the first best, then I liked the second best etc. I give up, they are superb. The last one with the little diver, the water looks crystal clear. Lorijo

yes the color of the sea and cliffs in Cornwall is pretty special,
hope to go back there one day,
makes a nice change to all that green here in Wales
