To me it reads, 'Other'.....less commonly used materials/mediums, as stated in subtitle.
'Alternative' title should read 'Methods/Uses', to fit it's subtitle of out of the mainstream (alternative) ways of using 'materials/mediums'.

Hmm. I guess I can see that, then. Thanks for the explanations. http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
So maybe it's just that I haven't noticed the actual posts sorting themselves out in such a manner. http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/wink.gif Or maybe it's that I haven't noticed, -yet-.

I guess I don't quite understand the difference, but... I can't help but wonder why we have two forums: "Other Mediums" and "Alternative Materials/Mediums".
The explanations say,
<ul>"Other Mediums
Looking for a place to discuss other mainstream mediums such as china painting, calligraphy, pen and ink, scratchboard, etc? Look no further!"
"Alternative Materials/Mediums
"Have you figured out a better way to use popcicle sticks in a collage? Are you using oil paints on bizarre surfaces, like toilet roll holders? Do tell!"
[/list]
I guess I just don't understand how the intent really differs. I suppose if it was just "Alternative Materials" without that "Mediums" bit, it would differentiate more... Or maybe the key word is that "mainstream" in the explanation?
I just... I'm not sure what would REALLY go in which forum, that's all. For example, when I posted my "henna" topic, I put it under "Other", but I don't really know if that was the right place.

Well...
alternative is affording a choice between two or more things.
other is one different in nature and quality OR alternate.
So...
there is no difference.
BUt I think alternative sounds alittle wilder. Let's use "alternative" mediums. Makes us sound like rogues.
