this incline holds much to be loved.

these splashes of color between
masses of darkness form a familiar
and dream like companion.

some acceptible distortions are mixed with
geometries that are very stimulating
using colors that are well connected.

everything simplified very nicely.

bravo

Great color!

Smashing composition!

Wonderful modeling of the legs!

She's wonderful!!!

... my only complaint would be the distinct jerry/dornberg influences... ;)

there is a very gentle freedom
in the rendering of her body tenderly
blocked in the recline
on forms solid but unobtrusive
coloring in sync with her expression
and yours

Believable lightness of being...
Strong Jerry-isms work beautifully in this original setting!

cindy, a clap from you feels like high praise
the apparent facts underlying your complaint are equally flattering - thank you

pam, thank you. i do too

alva, thank you. kind praise. (i love it)

zotma, that is a delicate and sensitive expression of feeling which i find humbling. your third eye is showing. i'm grateful, thank you

jeanine, the accusations of jerryisms are tickling me
thanks for visiting

It's taken me some time to sort out where I am with this one. I find a real dichotomy between the lushly-painted sensual thighs, etc, of the left half with the cartoonish torso and head and shoulders of the right half. Think it's great, but.. I'm split... that's all...

Impulse
09-23-2001, 12:16 AM
funny you should mention it allan
so am i
after i got to the point where i posted
i couldn't tell whether i wanted to
catch the right side up with the left side
the left side up with the right side
or just let it alone

the more realistice expectation might be
to migrate elements of the right side
down to the left ... but then again...
hmmm... i guess i'm no further along
than you are

sign it and leave it.
leave purfect to the purfectionary
this is art!

Impulse

hmm... jerry, i might just do that
though the subject voted for door number 2
i know, subjects don't get a vote
that's why they're subjects
but this one does

nice one impulse, i can see jerry's influence and the beginning of your own as well in this older post. i can tell you love this person and she has such a confident face. nice eyebrows, too...

Aww...you can see that she's "just thinkin of you"
warm feeling when I saw this.....so much heart without a heart shape. Men who paint intrique me, and men who paint women, I deeply respect.

Very well put, Jerry.

This is an amazing painting Impulse!

It doesn't bother me, the two worlds colliding. I think you broke into terrain unknown.

Harkens me back to DeKooning and a sliver of Kokoscka. Love those legs......Yeah.

Hi Impulse,

The others are correct - everything works just right in this. Just beautiful.

Just one observation: good thing the models was wearing panties, or you'd need to have put up the butt icon! ;)

Best to you.

Nice pose and colors but I would like to see a bit more deffinition and color around the breasts...think it would improve the picture.

amazing how archeologists bring
back burried artifacts and make
them alive again....

reynolds dug this up from the summer
i think

=>gavinart, thanks. i love those legs too!!!

=>canvasishome, thanks for the wishes. right about the panties.

=>vallarta, i hear you about the definition. i think that is what gavinart is talking about in terms of two worlds colliding. i can tell you that it was conscious and i have been of two minds on the subject. but jerry threatened to break my hands if i touched it again.

=>mjkohler, thank you. technically there is a dark shape in the lower right hand corner. would you like to see it a different size or colour?

=>dornberg, very glad you like it.

=>reynolds, you are the big imp around here!!! get thee to a tea house.

Impulse my friend! this is what I like! You are so good at this kind of work. The shapes are rock solid that leads the eye into the whole. Wonderful.!

:) Hello Impulse. I am inclined to think that I want an xtra shape there a little to the left of the right hand corner and up a little. In some of that nice greeney :) yellow would be nice. About 1/2 to 2/3 the size of her head. :)

My inclination to add something might just be the product of my frenetic mind though. mjk

i highly recommend looking at the older posts in any forum, it is really wonderful to see where a fellow artist has been and is going with their work.
