I asked Stoney for permission to work from his photograph.
Original photograph by Stoney (http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=131268&stc=1)

I started by sampling colors then did a subtle digital sketch which i followed up to a certain point, and then i switched off every backup image and went my own way with this painting....lots of airbrushing and smudging !!

Jet, very vibrant and highly impactful! I love the "golden" feeling of the structures and the wild sky! Nicely done!

Jet,
I was surprised to see your name in the Photography Pub....it was only then that I realized you had *guide* beside your name :D....interesting...in an effort to find out when/why/etc you became a guide I did a search of all your threads and ran across this one...my first thought was there is so much progress in your landscapes and the fact that you "went my own way" made me think you might have painted with oils at some time in your life....if not I would wager a bet that you could paint with the *real thing* without any trouble. I can see your work on a very large canvas...you have your own recognizable style.

The main thing I would do differently in this one is move that tall tree to one side or the other a bit, so it isn't smack dab in the middle :D

Okay, I am wondering...What does a Guide do????

Kathryn,

A guide really just annoys the rest of us in here and sits around thinking up new dishes for goat
