I finally got to paint late this evening so I didn't have long to paint. I did this in an hour and a half. Watercolor, Arches CP, 8"x10'. Actually I think it looks pretty good for so fast. About what it would take if it was Plein Aire. C&C welcome.

I've never been able to master watercolour well, so I really admire this piece! Well done! Love the yellows in the trees!

I saved this one to do, too....just can't decide what medium to try it in....it's such a lovely photo.

Yep, also my choice, Wasn't it hard to choose how to do this in watercolor? I ended up using every color of the rainbow! You did well, your yellow trees stand out from the background and vibrate!  Have some clappies for a job well-done

Wow, Mary, this is great! Super handling of those elusive watercolors and nice color choices.

You said something in my thread about wondering why I was having trouble with the w/cs this weekend and I think it's because I think I can go faster when I paint landscapes and since some of the washes aren't dry they bleed into each other and I just get irritated. So that's why I switched to gouache this weekend with a little acrylic because they seemed to dry faster and I could layer on the top and move the paint around. :) But I still love my watercolors - just wasn't being patient enough yesterday.

The yellow just reaches out and says; "I'm here!" :)

What a treat for the eyes!! And just an hour and a half! Indeed, very much a "plein air" feel to this gem. Absolutely love all the small saved whites. Doing these WDEs is really like an art class dedicated to stretching one's perameters (sp?) in all directions with many pleasant surprises along the way. Solid painting, Otter.

I think it's more than "pretty good"; it's stunning, and all it needs is a mat and a frame.

always impressed with wc, but you really bring something extra to yours. It really sings and you really seem to grab and catch all the important touches.

Glorious autumn colours ! I really like the way you've added contour and depth to the tree with the judicious use of leaf shadows, and then that oh so subtle complementary shadow on the ground ! Totally awesome !

Such good colors! I am not "delicate" but my watercolors never have this much vibrancy.

This was my choice too. Your skill in using watercolors comes thru so dramatically, in your beautiful, vibrant rendition of these wonderful trees. It's Gorgeous    Sharron
