Hello All. I started out to do Crete image in cp's, but then decided to try it in digital. As this is very new to me;I did not get far in 2 hours. I had the transparency set rather high for this water color effect. And I'm using the airbrush. Later I may erase, and get the sky over the mountains done more smoothly. But I am enjoying the learning process. :)

Good start. I wish I could find the time (and courage) to try digital!! The results are worth it.

Nice start! It has a nice watery feel. (I'm new to that stuff as well.) Keep us posted! :)

Hi xreader! I think it looks interesting with sky you have currently. I can imagine island added, this will be pretty picture!

That sky looks like mine in watercolor - so hard to get a smooth wash, apparently even with digital painting. But keep at it, we're rooting for you.

It's wonderful to see people extend themselves into new techniques, and it's so nice to have this safe place to show them to our WDE buddies ! Good for you for both taking the challenge, and having the intestinal fortitude to share ! I think it's coming along beautifully, and look forward to seeing your progress as you paint some more !

Thank you all so much! You don't realize how very encouraging you are, and you do impart courage. I agree this is a very safe place to share our work, and at the same time we get to know oneanother better. :)

Here I have begun again...and proceeded further. Not the best-but I think I am getting a bit better. C&C appreciated.

I thnk that's better! Now your colour transitions are more even.
What about value study? When I work from reference image I do exactly what is recommended in life - squint like crazy :D until I see only basic shapes and values. Digital is EASIEST way to put them on your "canvas" before getting to details. That's what I recommend. Other way is to fill your background with midtone in preferred colour, maybe even some vague pattern. Have luck!

Thank you for good advice, Alex. And thank you, Stoney and Joanna. :D
Below is a new version. It is very easy to try new aspects, as I have saved images in several different stages.

I've gotten a little further on it tonight. I think simple is best, for now. :)

Hi xreader, I have no idea, as to what's involved in doing this, but it sure looks like watercolor to me. Looking good, will keep my eye out for update. :D Sharron

I am done for today. Can see where I might make value changes though.

Your new version is showing signs that you are learning control over this new medium. Keep up the good work! I've tried this once or twice and find it quite difficult.

Staying tuned.... :D

Thank you Lorna :D Below are two final versions, I am not sure which I like best.

To be very honest...I can't see a difference? They both look the same. They are both very nice, though and it was a good learning experience, right?

If you would like a critique/advice for it, why not post it in the digital forum?

Thank you Lorna, I think I will try that.
