Hi everyone. This is the first time in this particular forum. I work with glass for a living so I generally lurk and post in the Glass Artists forum here on WC.

Lately I have had such an urge to write but I haven't actually acted on the urge so when I spotted this forum I knew I had to pop in here. It's been several years since I read the Artist's Way so I think it's time I dig my copy out and work through it. I see many of you have been going through it together -- will another group be starting up soon?

I dread finding my copy -- it is still unpacked from our last move...many of my books are still boxed up. My mind is reeling -- in search of the creative outlet I need -- so I know it's time to pick up a notebook and get writing. Don't get me wrong, my "job" generally allows me such creative freedom...and I have been on such a great role lately (this following the slump I'd been in over the winter months)...but I still have more energy to use up. I can hardly wait to pick up a pen and paper and get going today. I'm off to the studio now to melt some glass -- and part of me wonders if going off to the studio to work glass is partly my way of procrastinating on writing. (Hey, I'm fully aware of some of my own personal sabatoge and blocks!)

Okay, have to run. Wanted to drop by to introduce myself.

Melissa, good to see you over here...a great group of people, I think you will find very inspiring. The new 'Artists Way' group will be starting up again soon! Val

Ahhh, a familiar face! ;)

Still can't find my copy of The Artist's Way, but found the rest of my stash: Vein of Gold, Fearless Creating and Art & Fear...among others. But the whereabouts of TAW eludes me. In the meantime I'm going to start going through Fearless Creating and will ask DH to help me move some boxes to go through to find my copy of TAW.

Okay, got to run. I like to work while listening to Glenn Beck and he's on soon (9am) so I best be ramping my kiln up now. :)

Melissa--I just wanted to say hello back to you!
Listen, why don't you do yourself a favor and just buy another copy?? LOL LOL--that's what I would consider doing..! I have never done much with the artists way --I did get a copy from the library and I enjoyed reading it--but I never did the exercises. Right now I am involved in Charles Sovek's painting book. I got sidelined and want to start back up again. I just saw that you are from Maine and wanted to say--what a gorgeous state!! (I am sure you know that without me telling you!) my exhusband lived in Orono...so I got to visit throughout the state many years ago. I will never forget how beautiful it was.

I am also new to this forum and went through the Artist's Way by myself several years ago. It was a life turner, and still, many of the exercises that I did everyday then, I still do, just because I got into the habit: artist's date, affirmations, journaling. It would be nice to go through it again with a group. When is the next group meeting? :cat: Heidii
