Got a bit of a late start and didn't stop when I should have. The blobby hill in the upper right will have to go and I hope to fix the trees. 6 x 8 acrylic on board, just under 2 hrs. Another great selection of ref pics, thanks Katju!! Nice job!!

Later this week I'll try to revisit this one, but you've already done a great job rendering the 'volume' of these cattle -- they sure don't look 'flat!'

I like this -it kinda says 'essence of cow to me :) and I think the blobby bit adds variety - maybe just add a bit more colour to the blob? ;) :)
good cows! I don't know how to say this right, but I like the 'curviness' of this...like a smoothed out Van Gogh, if that makes sense!

I'm glad someone decided to paint the cows. I was driving on the interstate with my best friend and she kept suddenly stopping and making me jump out to take pictures. Kinda scary. Anyway, they're looking really good. I'll check for an update, Lanita.

Lanita, you've got a good one going here. Love your "moos" just enough to be able to identify. I will check back to see how your are progressing.

Well, it's still not exactly what I wanted but I like it somewhat better.
Thanks, all, for the nice comments!

I like how you did this painting. The colors are very calming. The cows are charming. I really considered doing this one...I may yet. Nice job.

YYcat you said exactly what I wanted to say. I live across the street from a herd of cows and this is what they look like. I like the colores and the impressionistic style!

nice! There's an abstract-ness (is that a word?!) that is very appealing, visually. And I love the soft palette! yea!

Tackling a subject that seems hard to do is just what this is all about. Someday I too will paint animals, maybe. Congratulations.

Cool cows! you've captured the cow essence nicely.

Aha ! I get the pun in the title ! That's great !! A weekend of song titles popping up !
As for the painting, first I congratulate you for painting the cows ! Many people declare them too difficult to draw/paint, but you have given them dimension, and roundness, and cow posture- they are very believable. (I love cows :) ) I'm enjoying your colour choices very much ! Way to go !

Not such 'silly old moos'!!! I love these cows, very painterly strokes and lovely, thick colour (at least it seems so to me!). :)
