Okay, at 1hr. 45min. (including tracing it off the monitor and then transferring by scribbling with pencil on the back of the tracing paper), I decided it's done enough to post. I might deepen shadows at the bottom of the painting, fix the features a bit, and so on, but wanted to get it posted more or less on time. For a change. :D
W/N artists' quality watercolor tubes: permanent rose & transparent yellow for skintones, burnt umber for eyelashes and wood grain, burnt sienna, cobalt blue, touch of gold ochre... Mostly an Escoda (1212) #14 sable round, some touches with the #8, on Curry's CP watercolor paper.

Amazingly enough, I actually like this one! It's obviously still pretty amateurish. But I like it! Yuppeeee!

i'm impressed Carol. I thought I'd scared you off at the mention of children. You did a nice job!

I like it too -the crop really gives a sense of a shared moment between the littlies :)

This is a hard one and you did quite well! Love the crop and just noticed that the wood finish on the piano is really nice!

Good job Carol, and very ambitious. I chose figures that were not facing me but I want to learn how to do people. Your colors and skin tone are really good and you capture the glee the piano players seem to portray.

You sure picked a tough one to do quickly. A double portrait, no less. Nice fresh colors and a presentation of a special moment. Good job, Carol.

I can see why you like it!! I always like things like this that I call "mid-sentence" --it is "conversational" and not staged or posed. you did a great job here!

Wow, Carol, you took this difficult picture and really ran with it !! You are justifiably proud of this, it's turned out very well indeed ! I LOVE how you managed the beautiful hands and arms, they're just exactly right. Lovely fresh skin tones too. Congratulations to you !!

They're having as good a time as I am just looking at this. What a nice "togetherness" scene you have here!
