View Full Version : sneaked in early, katju

Ok, here's the thing:
We're going away for the long weekend (love that Queen Victoria and her birthday!) to open up the cottage. Alas, no internet. I might not get to the event till Monday night :( . So I cheated and did a painting of a crop of one of the invitation pictures - both of which are tempting I might add. I had to have my WDE fix!
The background shapes are tiny and I wasn't sure if they were buildings or trees, so I improvised. I'm not happy with the field but I kind of like the sky.
5x7 oil pastel
Looking forward to seeing everybody else's entries!

Beautiful sky, I'm glad you found a way to participate early. The whole painting has a very nice feel to it. Kinda romantic.

Wendy, I just LOVE that sky!! The whole scene is just beautiful!!

I am amazed that such rich and subtle colour effects can be obtained with oil pastels. I only seem to manage primaries and secondaries like in a child's drawing when I use them. Maybe its because I only have a box of cheap OP's. All you wonderful artists in OP's are making me feel like going out and buying a box of the good ones.

Great landscape. Super sky!

It's gorgeous! I love all the colors you used. Nebraska has such big beautiful skies. I felt so lucky to have captured a few good photos of it.

You may not like your field, but I sure do. The colors you chose give it great depth. But everything else you did in this painting achieves that, too. Lovely!

I think it's just great that you dropped in early, because I'd sure have hated to miss this lovely painting because you were busy sweeping up dead mice at the cottage ! :D
This is absolutely eye-candy !   You sure do make those oil pastels sit up and sing ! Great stuff ! I'm so glad you are addicted to WDE's like the rest of us around here ! :)

It's yummy, Wendy!
There's a bit of discussion in Oil Pastel Studio around Sue's landscape (surprise! surprise!), and someone mentioned that land could reflect in clouds. I think I can see it here!
