Why is it that so many of the paintings that I photograph with my digital camera come out so blue? The reds, pinks, purples just dissappear and the blues intensify.

I usually take the painting outside in a shaded area to photo it. Any suggestions?

If your pictures are excessively blue, it sounds as if you camera is shooting for artificial light (tungsten) instead of daylight. The compensation for tungsten light is blue, thus your blue pictures. It is possible that you have set your cameras' white point to tunsten by mistake, or if this is an automatic feature, it may have developed a fault and consult your dealer.

Thanks, Kevin. I'll look that up in the instruction book and see what I can figure out. Appreciate your advise.
