Good morning all :)

Here are two paintings I have done this week from photos in the IRL. Both on 16x20 stretched canvas.

The first is a purple tulip (thanks madmum) and the second is a gorgeous bunch of poppies (thanks olika).

All and any comments welcome :)

Both paintings have turned out lovely, Jan! You have done a wonderful job of catching the light and that is no easy feat! Glad you found inspiration in my poppies! :D :D

Thanks gerri - and thanks for the lovely photo! The paintings themselves are much brighter than I could get in a photo - those poppies were complicated but they were so gorgeous I had to try :)

Hi there i thought your paintings were beautiful, so colourful. I have been learning how to paint flowers and it is not always easy! :) I am wondering if you used any specific mediums or anything?

Great to see this post - currently trying an open tulip and its not easy!
I have a love of poppies and yours have captured both light and movement.
Love them!

Thanks for all the nice comments :) I wish the photos didn't look as cloudy as they do.

I'm about to start on another sunlit tulip, so watch this space :)

I just discovered your PM and came straight over! I love your rendition of this image, it has a softness that is missing from the photo.

(I've tried to paint this one in watercolours and it isn't my most successful work! lol)

Hi Jan,
Delightful work on both of these although I think the poppies is my fav, the colours are bright and beautiful. Your work is just bounding ahead.
