Hi everybody! This is my first bird in acrylics.
Masonite: 30cmX40cm (15,5"x11,5")
First picture was taken with my digi camera and the second one was scanned.
C&C are welcomed!

I like this a lot, especiallythe way your indistinct background pushes the bird right out at you.

I love the little sparkles on the birds back. You've done a very nice job on him. The background doesn't really make sense to me. I'm not sure what it represents.

Hi Laura, thanks for stopping by and commenting on my painting.
About the background...I just found a picture on my files and painted as it is...I'm guessing that the photographer took a picture focusing on the bird and left the background (maybe a flowery garden) really blurry...
I liked it..the colors made him pop up.

I agree with the others. This is really nice. You would think that there wouldn't be enough contrast with your choice of colors on your background, but it works really well. Good job.

I really like your picture! The detail on the cardinal is amazing and i like the fuzzy background it really does make the bird jump out at you!

This inspires me to try a bird.
Well, I was going to ask you which one was the photo and which one was the painting, but then I read more carefully that one is a photo of a painting and the other is a scan of a painting. I seriously thought you were saying that one is a photograph of a real bird, and I was believing it because your painting is so well done. They are both paintings, right? :)

for a moment i thought this was a sculpture sitting in front of a cloth backdrop :D
This cardnal is done very well. I can even see the little whisps of feather coming out from his chest. The background looks very good, though the grey stones are a stark contrast against all the red. Still, I think it works nicely.
