Hi All,
A different view of a breaking wave. It looks almost abstract but is done (I hope ) in a realist style. From a photo of a friend of mine (thanks Simon) of a breaking wave taken from the cliffs at Kalbarri in late afternoon on the Mid-north coast of WA.
This is 1300mm by 450mm (52ins by 18ins), acrylic on gallery wrap canvas. C&C always appreciated.

Hi Marty. The forground wave is perfect, and you have done a marvelous job with the water. The light yellow green band just behind the wave is a bit confusing to me. Is it the mist of the wave? If that is mist, I would suggest to make it more transparent. Yax

I agree the foreground is lovely, the "green" looks like land to me?????

I can feel the power of it pounding the cliffs, the spray, the smell....:)

Hi Yax, JJ, Eugene- thanks for the comments. The yellow/green is the spray from the wave misting overhead. I always thought it would be the big challenge on this one and it probably should be more transparent. In fact, the more I think about this, the more I think it needs a rework in the mist area - I changed the colour temperature quite a bit from the photo and in retrospect it should be warmed back up again to really catch the afternoon sun effect. At the moment it is too wintery looking. Thanks again.

Hi Eugene - thanks for your vote of confidence!
Hi Dawn - I knew when I did this one that people would puzzle over exactly what they were seeing, especially as it is an unusual angle which most never see, which is why I said it looks almost abstract. Thanks for looking!

The abstract nature of it makes it so good to me :)

I especially love the foam in the lower left corner. It's beautiful even with the confusing green band. That looked to me like water pouring over something.

Hi Di, Regina, Alan - thanks for looking and commenting, I think the next seascape I do won't be quite so confusing!
And a double thanks to you Eugene!
