LarrySeiler mentioned in another thread I posted this in, that I should post it in this Inspirational section. To tell the truth I have never really ventured into here, but I suspect I will from, time to time.

This is a work in progress that for now, is titled His Passion.

All comments are surely welcome. Of course, it's already been pointed out that in reality, according to history, Golgotha, where Christ was crucified, was at least 50 kilometers from any large body of water. I added some items as a means of aesthetics. So, this portrayal of His journey to the Cross is filled with a few things that may or may not have been involved in the 'real picture'. Since there aren't many photographs available from that time period, I guess we'll never now how it really looked, eh? :tongue-in-cheek:

And yes the columns may not belong, but I like them, so I left them in. I needs to add a couple of more items, and will, perhaps tonight or tomorrow, time permitting.

This is very dark, so its difficult to see all the details.

One thing that stands out, though, is that Jesus' head seems as if we are seeing it straight-on, while his body is positioned at an angle that a straight-on view of the head seems unlikely...

I like the columns, too...

It really portrays Jesus' suffering. The painting communicates the horrible conditions He went through. Hopefully viewer will appreciate what Jesus did for us by willingly going to the cross. Good Job!

This has a powerful allegorical feel to it, much like paintings of the Renaissance did. Your inclusion of 'unrealistic' details has a long and respectable history in painting. I'd also like to see it lightened up so we can see the details more clearly, perhaps in the next progress shot you share. Looking forward to it...

Scenes like this always bring tears to my eyes. The torture that our lord suffered that we might be saved is protrayed very well. I know this came from your heart. A painting this powerful could come from no where else. I do hope that you post more in this forum:)

Thanks, for the great comments, all!

I've gotten some time to get further along....added a few things. A brighter photo and a close up.
