I see it in this thread!!!
WOW! Well worth the wait!!
No, I don't think it's too busy at all! I think those verticals prevent it from being so. although they don't divide it in any bad way. It all works together beautifully!
And, wow, I'd have had to draw or paint that guy in the foreground, too - what a face!
By the way, at your web site, I noticed one of your paintings said 'Courtesy of the National Portrait Gallery London.' Does this mean I can see it if I go there?

Such strong composition! Like Helen mentioned, the vertical doesn't bother me; it actually creates the depth. How clever by painting the school girl and her mother (maybe) stronger than the rest; it certainly balances out the painting.
Awesome work! Needless to say about this old man (great expression), but I love the women's features. Absolutely, you depict French women well. They look all from around St. Germain des Pre... ;)

very good work. For some reason I am only seeing the painting with your post without questions or other info. The figure in front speaks and the figures in back are hidden and off doing their own things. Specific details left out give a good quality to this painting. Clothing and skin tones are expertly done. Composition I am okay with, but it seems that most of the people in the back are hidden.
keep on painting, sharing, and have fun!

Ahhh makes me feel like I'm there. Actually I think I might have had a beer in this place the other day, I have a friend who lives round the corner from there, rue de Sevres....
I really like the play on depths of field. And the little scowl of your musician. Bravo :)
