Love the boro
Thought there would me more this morning
Anywho - my weekend of classes at the shore , finding that my pipes had burst during the winter in my condo and leaving after cleaning up at 2am Saturday morning to go to a hotel before the first class on saturday
Learned how to sandblast and airbrush - the first is airbrushing and working inn paint mattes to do a study of shadow and no trace lines - my six minute eggs(thats how long they were inthe kiln) and some sandbast samples on plate and flash glass.

Julie - what gorgeous colors - love your beads!!

Deborah -- those are amazing,.... what a great class it must have been!

Inspiration for these came while mowing my yard, looking at the dandelions and violets among the green grass...

Here's a necklace I made with the first boro beads I made. I thought they'd look good with amber and gold, so I chose some faceted amber beads I've been hoarding, and played around with the design a bit until I got what I liked:

Finally, a couple bracelets a friend commissioned for his SO's birthday:

Hey everyone...thanks for the eye candy today...its nice to be back and see what you are all up to.
First beads back at the torch...I kept looking at the sand being eatten up by the waves in Mexico...stong right by shore...it will suck you right in...the sand is darker than here in Oregon and of course the water is bluer....so these are Sand 'n Sea....the color combo was on my mind the whole time back.

Wow!!!! Gorgeous beads yall!!! Human creativity - ahhhhhh!!!!

So here I present to you my first hollow bead - I am facinated by hollows - something about making the two ends meet, and patching all the holes and then long and behold seeing the glass take a beautiful smooth shape... almost as good as chocolate!

And.. the other pictures... well it is not a bead made into the form of a cake - it is the cake my sweet daughter baked and decorated for me for mothers day - had to share - melted my heart...

Sunday had a bead show here in KC, and was sharing a booth with a fellow co-worker. I was telling her how my kids never really celebrated mothers day, and bu hoo hoo poor me :crying: , etc. etc. etc, and well that I should not complain because after all I guess I had brought them up that way.

But... when I got home both my kids were there and I was received by a Pizza dinner, the amazing cake and a beautiful card  . I guess I must be a good mom  - it was amazing.

About a slice - are you kidding me - it is all gone!! Otherwise of course!

Cecelia, what a decorating job on that CAKE!!! I am in AWE of the sides. And since I live in the same town you do, I'll be over later to ask your daughter to show me how to DO-OO that!

What a great day for bead porn!! Cake porn too (Atkins-carb-starvation-diet drooling going on here!!)

I finally did a fish. I tried to do them with fins sticking up and on the sides but kept failing miserably. I was trying to do a fish for the bead swap on AGF. I used my pillow masher and then heated the edges and squooshed them back to make the fins. The lip on the black one got screwy (on the side you can't see) so I guess I will keep him. The other I will send along with my other beads for the swap.

Melanie! You solved my mystery of the mismarked rod! I got a rod from Arrow Springs marked Purple (EDP) and it was a yellowish ivory color:

I just used the last of the rod and now I know what it was!

Opal yellow is the BEST! You need to be patient with it to get all it's colors to come out, but it is so worth it when it works. :) :) :)

I just called it Custard since I didn't know what it was! It has ivory, pink/peach and yellow tones...very nice! I'm so glad I know what it really is!

Nice hollow.
Great job on the cake. Lattice work takes a lot of time and patience to do. Her writing is very neat and nice, also. Peg M

Thanks - yes - she took a couple of cake decorating classes at a Hobby Lobby ) local art/craft supply store) last year. I guess that is our family tradition thing - making cakes. Ever since she was pretty little (9yrs) she used to bake cakes out of her own initiative. And from there she started making fancy cakes - I have this great book with very complicated recipes, and everytime it is the bithday of one of her friend she get the book out and tries new things. Of course there is the usual - 'You should not have tried to make a recipe for the first time when you have to make a cake' - lecture at midnight when she is freaking out becuase something is not working!
Ahh!!!! Family tradition!
And now my sweet little girl is graduating from High school and off to college she goes. :crying:

Did she see the wedding cake 5/4 in the Lobby? She might enjoy seeing it. I messed around over a week deciding what I wanted to do and made things ahead. I usually only take an hour or two to make a wedding cake, but this was special as its was for my daughter. Labor of love as your daughter's beautiful cake was. Peg M
