Ted Walker, a friend of mine is a wonderful marine artist. I recently had a chance to see some of his original paintings, and was most impressed. Ted is the official artist for the touring Titanic Exhibition and the Cunard Company. He was recently commissioned to paint the Queen Mary 2 for a UK postage stamp.
Here's one of my favourites, "Coaling":
36 x 24 oil on canvas.
His current website (http://edwalker.mysite.freeserve.com) only has prints, but he is soon to have a website devoted to his originals.

Ted's work is outstanding and I'm working on a website to promote his original oil paintings. Here's another beautiful example:
He has over 50 originals like this.

Your friend, Ted, is a wonderful painter. Both these examples are delightful to look at, they must be really impressive to see IRL.
The first reminds me of some Dutch painters from the 1800s in tone and composition.
The second is luminous. I really like the palette and his use of light.
Thanks for sharing them with us.
