Hi Gloria!!! Thanks for participating! You did exactly right. Go to the project: Click here (http://www.wetcanvas.com//Community/Projects/index.php?cmd=view_details&proj_id=679)

Then click on the link that says: "Browse the Gallery Exhibit (Finished Works)"
You'll see your works and the works of others. When you click on the works you'll have an opportunity to comment on them. That's it!

Okay, I'm off to see what you have created!...

jorge, i love the bright colors in this. it really does have the feeling of a sunset.

the image, though, is a little confusing to me. the waves have the same sort of feel as the sky, so it's kind of difficult (other than color shift) to tell where one ends and the other begins.

Ekk.

I have just uploaded my image and having looked at all the other I am really hopin g it fits in okay

I was trying to protrey my images I see in the clouds. I think I might be warped after seeing everyone else fantastic renditions. I hope you enjoy my image

It is Titled : Within The Clouds

Take care

The crone woman

P.S. I am sorry I havent be around much, I had a big interview that has taken 5 months to prepare for...... thankfully we passed !

it needs lots of work i guess.

Not so sure... there's a lot of stuff I like in it and wouldn't like to see overworked.

I think you just need to watch the tones as well as the colours. I hope you don't mind me editing it. I used very large, 100% smooth, brightening and darkening brushes, a bit of saturating and de-saturating.

.... But i really liked the shadows in the wave, that makes better sense as the light
has been long gone there, before than in the background.

Well, maybe i should've posted these at the WIP gallery instead of at the finished pieces.- next time-

Thanks for showing me the corrections.

TheAndroid, Thanks for your words.

Thanks Joel,

My though processes was really the vision of the clouds. I am sure that we all see shape, faces alsorts in cloud formations. I suppose I was taking this one step further and experimenting with what might be there, or personal vision within.

I have visions within me and this challenge just gave me an oportunity to show some. Maybe they are clouds of past..... I hope they are not clouds of the future. I would sure like to see more fluffy clouds from now on.

Part of this has to do with the hard time me and my partner have had for the last 5 months. We have been on edge about a business we are about to take over. A pair of interviewers had the final yes or no for our being fit people. Maybe this is my reaction to their intensity over this period of time. I am sure glad it is over.

I was looking to expand the image into brighter skyes, what do you think?

I hope this gives some insite, I look forward to seeing and commenting on more here, but the sleep is calling me

Sweet dreams, keep safe

I like the dreamy feel it has all around it, even the undefined horizon fits well here, as it makes believe that one is on a slope between mountains and .. yes.. between clouds as well...

Flynfire how did you get all those into one reply??

Chiers, you can have two tabs or windows open, one with a reply window open where you'll write your messages.
Now you go to the other window and click on the comments button at the picture that you want to include- a reply window will open , copy all the info and press escape or cancel .go back to 1st window and paste the info.
You'll have to repeat this action as many times as pictures you want included in your reply message.
Or you can use a text editor in place of first window , and gather all info before pasting all on the same window that you're canceling the replies.

I hope it makes sense. ;)

I was talking about bold brushwork in this forum recently. Seems like everyone has responded in these cloud pictures and done some great stuff. Except me. I've been worrying about every pixel. (Imagine ironic smiley here.)

Not so good is that there seems to be very few non-digital painters contributing. Wasn't that supposed to be part of the goal here??

Yes and uh well no, I guess the right answer here would be both.

For instance, on the grass, I used a Oil fine for the initial layer then used a blender called Grainy Water to blend it and give the grass effect.

The effects I pulled off by painting in layers, which was the first time I attempted that, I normally do not paint in layers, I treat a piece like a canvas, but, by using layers I was able to adjust the lights and Oh also on the leaves for lights I used the Glow effect and Dodge.

This piece gave me some ideas for another one so I am playing with ideas now to see what comes out of it.

Okay check what I said about the size being 500x600. I've just noticed an entry that was 600 pixels wide. So maybe the size limitation doesn't apply to projects? Any one else have any info on this? ExpressMark, you might just be able to get away with posting your larger entry into the system. Try it and let us know if it went without a hitch. Thanks again!

Wow! Thank You Robin! I use Painter 8 for all my paintings. I used to use Photoshop, but I found it limiting for what I wanted to do. Ofcourse that was just my opinion of it, I have seen others do awesome stuff with it, just wasnt my cup of tea.

I had been using Painter 7 until several on the board convinced me it was time to get Painter 8. I am so glad they did, I feel my pieces have more depth to them now. Ofcourse again that is my opinion, but then again the works speak for themselves.

I am working on a few tutorials, one of which will show how to paint Trees, Grass, and such like. Also painting in Layers!

Congrats on your inspiring art piece.
Glad you decided tro join the project..

And so glad you are getting into the 'advantages' of digital painting, now you've discovered the 'new dimensions' of painting in layers and this will trigger your creativity as no canvas work would ever do, that's what going into a new medium is all about, getting the most of it.

You were running fast,... now you can fly !!

Anyone know?

Mark you can enter as many as you want . There's no restriction on the number of entries in this project.

Take a look at the gallery (http://www.wetcanvas.com//Community/Projects/index.php?cmd=browse_final_all&proj_id=679) so far.

****About file and graphic size limits****

Joel, as I understand, the graphic can be 500x600 or 600x500 bytes and the file size limit is 150 Kb.

Now one question--Is there any relation to the fact that Mark's graphic is not in the gallery ?

C ya....
Jet, thanks for clearing that up! The confusion comes from the fact that in the normal forums the width is restricted to 500 pixels.

I think that Mark was just experimenting at first so he didn't enter it. I believe he will now do so.

Mark, Somehow you posted your pictures through some glitch in the software and your pictures are showing in real pixel size, instead of thumbnails.

Did you sign up for the project ?
And, how are you uploading the pictures?

it is causing a disrupture in the gallery's sequence...
....i'll ask for help from a guide or moderator..

Mark, don't worry, i'm sure it's not your fault.

In software design there are validation routines for avoiding these glitches
by screening all input and stopping undesirable data from entering the system.

I've reported this to a moderator, so it won't be long before help arrives ...

Well, you've found a couple of glitches already, and you sure are testing the ststem big time ..lol....:p

How do you get thumbnail in the post like that?

ExpressMark

Jet
04-30-2004, 10:10 PM
Mark,
I guess that i might have gotten it...

Please check...
1.-Graphic size of no more than 500x600, or 600x500 dpi ____
2.- File size no larger than 150 Kilobytes .......................____
3.- Graphics resolution no more than 72 dpi ..................____

note: My guess is the error is in number #3.
This means that probably you're posting your graphics at a larger resolution than 72 dpi, probably closer to 300 dpi; and that is , somehow, getting WC software confused, so it takes a wrong decision when compressing for building thumbnails from this 'huge' graphic file.

**Change to 72 dpi before "saving for the Web"...
*** By meeting the 3 pointer criteria, i believe you will have solved the problem !!

Thanx!

About the uploads, the Files I uploaded were all the right size into the Gallery. WHy they wasnt working I found was that during the compression in Paint Shop Pro I tried to a new compression, and for what ever reason the web didnt like it, thus the Gallery wouldnt except it. I ran it through my normal default comressions and that fixed it.

About the second pic the large one, I put it there so people could see the detai of the orgional. The smaller comressed pic is in the Gallery.

Elvira,
Firsty of all, sorry i mispelled the sentence: "See it happens" should have read :"See IF it happens"....

Somehow you need a combination of factors, such as a graphic with header
information (in PS ) and be working in MS internet explorer.
I've been aware for some time now, but we never know until it happens,
then we can gather new info if there is any whatsoever.

As Mark now has found a way that PSP produces undesirable reaction in WC software, that we have to gather as new info, - nothing close to PS's nasty effect though-, but it hasto be taken into account and see if it can be screened by WC or precaution must be taken by members until there's a reliable solution. --I hope Mark remembers what caused this effect --

I took a look at the jpg, optimizer in PSP 8; the only added setting are the ability to set Chroma Sampling and the recommended setting for that are either default or none; you can choose to save exif info or not, and standard jpg or progressive, I usually use the progressive jpg. So my guess is the it is the chroma sampling setting that are the culprit here. When set outside of default or none.

Gloria and Joel, thanks for looking at the new Scott's brainchild...
..it is such a breakthrough and a H3LL lot of EFFORT that i had to let members know about it.
I hope more members get to visit our own and unique Art Agent's smARTviewer (http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=184540).

It will change at how we look our art , and most of all it will change the way we DO Digital Art FOREVER...

Why?..
.........Because with this new interface, we will be able to see great magnifications of our pieces, and with such close-up power we won't get by with the usual sloppy jobs some of us do and finally pass as great jobs that probably were fouled in the process of JPEG conversion/compression; Not anymore, as everybody will have acces to the most detailed info of our 'art pieces'.
Today, so many pieces that look alike at screen size will be seen under a different light and will be appreciated in a fair way more accordingly as to how traditional art is beig judged and appreciated at this moment.

So i believe it is a good idea to take a look at this tool, what it is, how to use it and on , and on...

It will bring many benefits with no drawbacks, apparently.

Be aware, be ready , be warned !!

Welcome the future ! A way to look back without turning back !! --> Art Agent's smARTviewer (http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=184540).

Thanks lots to Scott 'The Wizard' one more time

The problem realy is I can't visualize the lightening strobe right it I could then I would be able to paint it. And I don't think I'd realy use the neon pen to do it.
but will try some other ideas until I find what I want.

I glad you like the image, it doesn't do the real thing justice as it was most awsome sight I think I have ever seen. And this is the first time I've tried to paint it.

I'd be honored if you'd go ahead and tried doing it in acrylic, at any size, by all means do it...

Your image of clouds is primitive and powerful at the same time. Your idea of clouds doesn't fit any cloud description that I know of but it still conveys the feeling of a happy, cloud filled sky. I would like to be there. :)

It said it had to be 300 by 300, not sure how to do that. If I take the picture of my painting with my digital, the smallest image size is 640x480. How do I shrink it? I new at this so any help would be appreciated..
Thanks P.

Patty...in photoShop go to images, canvas size, then resize it there. Just type in the width or height you want. Be sure that the constrain proportions box is checked. Remember to rename when you save for web so you do not overwrite your original. Hope this helps :D

Any time Patty,

The images should be no more than 600X500. When you resize make sure you have pixels selected. 200X150 seems a bit small for anywhere on WetCanvas. Also, when you save for web make sure you are below 150k. I think this is where you biggest problem was. When the box come up to save look to the right of it and you will see a setting that say quality.

Click on the arrow there and a slider will appear. Move this to the lseft until it say something between 100 and 140.

I use 140 because wc adds some for some reason. You can see the quality setting in the lower left as you adjust. Check Optimized and leave the icc and progressive unchecked Remember...save for web.
