I am sure this has been covered before. I am just not sure where. I was at the Rocky Mountain Bead Show and picked up these beads for my wife. I have been putting beads on leather for my daughter, but I want to be a little fancier for my wife. Where do I go to get wire, chain, or what ever to put these on something silver? For me this is the biggest obstacle I face in buying glass beads. What do you do with them?
I got the big pink from John Olson. At first Lauren told me she didn't like the silk. When I got it put together I think she was alright with it. Craig

Craig, Love the John Olsen bead!!!
I get all my silver and other supplies online at: firemountaingems.com
Do a search online for lampwork jewelry or something to that effect, for some stringing ideas?? There are also finished jewelry threads in the showcase here on W.C. Be prepared to get hooked on making jewelry though......... :D

Craig, lovely beads you have to work with there!

You may want to post your question in the jewelry/wearable art forum here on WC, those folks are pro's with these topics. Say the word and I'll move this thread over for you. :)

Lucky Wife! I guess I really like the silk ...so I don't know if I have anything to offer as a suggestion for your wife but ...I think anyone wanting to offer a suggestion would need to know about her other jewelry tastes.

There are several publications and magazines that deal with these subjects too...

I would go to Amazon and look for

gee I am finding some interesting stuff there...free glass sample packs from someone I have never heard of!!!

free glass and frit sample packs (http://www.originglass.com/?engine=adwords!1250&keyword=%28art+jewelry%29)

wow this looks simple ......lol...I love advertising (https://www.drdynamics.com/products/gemdivaoffer/?tag=1577)

at any rate there are lots of books at amazon....you may see one that catches your eye. I shop at amazon ;-) best way for me to find something I hadn't even considered ;-) and spent more money than I intended...

I will be back with the link for you of the free Fire Mountain Gems catalog, which is really good to have on hand especially if you are new.

I love that pink John Olson bead with the silk and the silver accent. If you want something really simple how about an omega chain for the purple beads with bali silver beads in between. There are plenty of sources for bali silver. Look in this forum at our Jewelry Links thread for material source links and tutorial links. Here is a link to the Jewelry Links thread: http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=182831

Please post whatever you make with the beads here in this forum on our daily show and tell thread. We all love to Ooooo and Ahhhhh over new stuff.

Welcome to the Wearable Arts forum.

These would look good on Softflex .019 with Swarovski crystals and some Bali silver spacers.

Here is what you would need:

Softflex .019 Beading Wire
(2) 2mm sterling tube crimp beads
Clasp and jump ring
Assorted Bali silver spacers
6mm and 4mm Swarovski crystal bicones in coordinating colors

Crimping pliers
Wire cutters

Donna, thanks for that video link. I may order that myself so I can learn some basics.

Craig- Those beads are gorgeous. I'm sure your wife will love whatever you come up with.

Ditto! I would probably do something with a lot of silver and the Swarovski. It's hard to tell without actually seeing the beads in person, but lapis or sodalite might be something that you could work with as well if you wanted to make a longer necklace. I would probably do a bracelet with them.
And I love the pink!!! If she doesn't like it, feel free to send it along this way! It's gorgeous.

Is something like this what you have in mind? If so, it is quite easy to do. You would want to get some beadalon (teflon coated wire) crimp tubes, sterling spacer beads, glass seed beads and a sterling toggle clasp. You really just string it all on how you like it crimp both ends after stringing on the toggle piece and thats it!
